Hey @Lucile , sorry you ran into this! I’ve merged your post into an existing thread where others have reported the same issue.
You can find the best answer below for helpful context. Thank you

The “helpful context” doesn’t matter in this case. SheerID is a failure and sends a canned response when contacting support. That is why there are so many forum posts about education verification issues. We all expire today with no resolution or response from Figma or SheerID. I have given all required and valid documentation. This should NOT be an issue.

I tried to re-verify my student status, but I couldn’t complete the verification because it said I had exceeded the verification limit.

I have contacted SheerID several times by email, but they keep repeating that I should verify through the platform, even though I cannot submit my documents because the limit has already been exceeded.

It’s already been a week since I started going back and forth with them about this issue.

The deadline for student verification was September 29, and a lot of time has already passed.

When I tried to verify, none of the documents worked—including my ID card, English enrollment certificate, class schedule, and student ID.

I also contacted Figma’s customer support, but I have never received a reply.

I am extremely frustrated.

Hi there! I am seeking assistance regarding the verification of my Figma Educational Status.

I am a lecturer teaching Multimedia Design and Interface Design at Natinal Taiwan University of Arts. I have been using and teaching Figma since 2021, and my educational status has been verified since then. My students consistently find Figma extremely useful and beneficial in various aspects of our coursework. I teach approximately 200 students using Figma each year.

About Weeks ago, I received a new verification request. I currently use two educational accounts (for two different universities), both registered with official school email addresses. One account was verified successfully, but the other was not.

To support the verification, I submitted my course syllabus, school ID card, letter of appointment, and even my government-issued ID card (front and back), as requested by SheerID. However, I received a response stating:

“The first name on the document does not match the first name you entered on your verification form.”

I suspect this issue may be due to differences in how Asian names are formatted—typically, the family name comes first, followed by the given name, especially on official documents.

Additionally, documents issued by the government and universities in Taiwan are written in Traditional Chinese and use the Republic of China (ROC) calendar year format.

After several attempts and uploading nearly all relevant documents, I received a

Verification Limit Exceeded” message. And SheerID replied “Your ticket has now been permanently closed”.

As this is the beginning of a new semester, many new students are creating Figma accounts. Unfortunately, the success rate of educational verification in my class is only around 60%, and some students are encountering the same “Verification Limit Exceeded” issue.

I’ve been written letters to SheerID and FIgma Suppourt with no reply. Since all current educational users must re-verify their status before September 29, 2025, this has become an urgent issue in my classes. Any help, guidance, or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support.

[Merged by a moderator from ‘Assistance Needed for Figma Educational Status Verification’ on Sep 28, 2025.]

Updates:

I wrote a reply mail with all my verification document attached,

and explain my situation to SheerID.

I also cc a copy to education@figma.com.

SheerID Verification Support does reply very soon,

and along with this message:

Thank you for reaching out to SheerID regarding your verification for Figma.

As previously stated, we are unable to review your ID via email as the Government ID check must be successfully completed within the platform before continuing with your verification request. If the ID check is not completed, we are unable to further assist with your request.

As SheerID is unable to offer further assistance, we will be permanently closing this ticket.

Thank you for your understanding.

Am I a joke? 🤷

Just a quick update.

After replying to SheerID Verification Support and CC’ing a copy to education@figma.com, I received a response from Figma.

They informed me that my verification limit had been reset and asked me to try the process again.

I’m happy to share that I’ve successfully completed the verification!

Thanks to the moderator for the helpful suggestion, and to Figma Support for the prompt response.

Although my educator account is now resolved, many of my students are still unable to verify their student accounts.

While the free version of Figma includes many useful features, it’s frustrating to explain why they can’t access the promised benefits of the Educational plan.

So I’m posting this update and leaving the discussion open.
Hopefully, things will work out soon and smoothly.

I’ll keep updating if there’s any good news.

Great job again, Figma team!

I'm an international student studying in California, and my FIGMA student account hasn't been approved. I've tried contacting SheerID over six times, but to no avail. They simply say they can't help you and close the ticket. We use FIGMA a lot at school, but it's very difficult right now.

I contacted you before and you mentioned I should try again  but it shows me this

Hey All, thank you for following up!

I completely understand how frustrating this experience has been. As mentioned by @MARK54, if you’ve already reached out to SheerID, the next best course or action is replying to SheerID Verification Support and CC’ing a copy to education@figma.com.

From there, our Education team will be able to help reset your verification limit, so you can try again.

i have to verify my education account but figma can’t verify all the information i provide even sheerid isn’t helping

Laila_Nur_Fardah

I was re-verifying my student education plan because of the new update and features but when I tried to re-verify my account, my ending screen would be

"Verification Limit Exceeded
We're glad you're enthusiastic, but it looks like you've already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer."

Then my friend told me to contact SheerID immediately, but after a few days I received a reply email saying

"We were unable to process your verification request. While we can't offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please ensure all information submitted is accurate and meets the eligibility criteria for future attempts. Your ticket has now been permanently closed."

I dont know what to do since they dont provide any information that I need to do to solve the problem.

then I tried again today and my ending screen would be

"We're unable to verify you using the information  submitted. Please check your information for accuracy and only use your own mobile device or computer "

Then I saw a community forum on Figma that had the same problem and was told to contact them individually using form request.

Then I received the following reply:
" If you are receiving the error message ‘Verification Limit Exceeded’ please reach out directly to SheerID through their contact form.

If you verified the wrong Figma account and need a different account verified, please reach out to education@figma.com."

I have already contacted SheerID, but why do I have to keep contacting SheerID when their email response does not solve the problem I am experiencing?

Has anyone else experienced something similar? How can I resolve this? I really need a Figma Education account.
Please help me resolve this.

Please help me resolve this issue so I can continue with my education plan verification.

Hey @Junko3, I was wondering if you have any solution to this.

Thank you so much!

Quick Update!!

Yesterday, I contacted the SheerID support team, and because I got advice from Junko to cc education@figma.com to explain the problem I was experiencing.

And just today, I received several replies. At first, I used my personal email because previously it wasn't a problem and the verification process was easy, and some of my friends also used their personal emails without any problems, so I didn't think it would be a problem because we would upload the documents later.

However, Sheerid's response stated that they couldn't verify using a personal email and that I had to use a school-issued email. So, I changed my Figma email address to my school email and contacted them again to say that I was now using my school email.

Then, I was contacted directly by the Figma education team, and they reset my limit so that I could upload again.

Actually, I really regret this. What if they don't have their own school email, especially small private educational institutions, which usually rely on students' or parents' personal emails (generic personal emails) or use third-party learning platforms (such as Google Classroom or Edmodo) for communication, without providing a school domain email address.

After that, I re-verified and re-uploaded the PDF document, but I received the following message:

“We are unable to confirm your eligibility due to: the document submitted does not meet the date requirement for establishing eligibility for this offer.”

Even though it was valid. I had previously encountered the same issue multiple times until I reached the limit, so I re-uploaded the document in PNG format along with my ID card and received a “Review” screen because it was not in English.

I had experienced this issue before, and yes, I reached the limit again. Finally, after uploading the PNG format and waiting for the review process,

I immediately contacted Education Figma and Sheerid again to request that this verification be approved manually as soon as possible, as I was afraid the same issue would occur again. Now I can only wait and will update again later.

Thank you, Figma support team. I hope this issue is resolved soon.

Hey @Laila_Nur_Fardah, I am stepping in for @Junko3. It’s definitely not ideal to feel stuck in a loop. Have you had a chance to contact education@figma.com yet? If you’ve already reached out and haven’t heard back, I can check in with the team internally to make sure your case gets the attention it needs.

That said, since the verification process itself is fully managed by our partner SheerID, I unfortunately don’t have the ability to step in directly.

@Gayani_S
Thank you for the quick check-in and for offering to look into this internally. I truly appreciate your support and completely understand that the verification process is managed solely by SheerID.

Yes, I can confirm that I have already contacted education@figma.com and included them in my previous email, precisely because I feared getting stuck in this loop again.

The core issue remains that my previous valid documents were rejected (for both "date requirement" and non-English language reasons), and I am highly concerned that this recurring technical issue will continuously deny my eligibility, regardless of my valid student status.

I am currently waiting for a response from the Figma Education Team. I am holding onto the hope and belief that with both SheerID and the Figma team now aware of my situation and the cycle of rejections, this can finally be resolved.

Thank you once more for your valuable time and service.

Quick Update! @Gayani_S

Prior Rejection: My previous submission was rejected as "the document is insufficient for establishing eligibility for this offer." I believe this was due to the document being in my native language.

Current Attempt (English Document): Based on this assumption, I immediately submitted a new request using a new document version that is fully translated into English and is valid and current.

Result & Lockout: Despite submitting the translated, valid document, I immediately received two final, compounding error messages:

"The document is not official or on the list of accepted document types."

"You have reached the attempts for submitting through this method, please contact SheerID below."

The Problem and Request:

This confirms my greatest fear: I am now trapped in a permanent verification loop. Every time I follow instructions, the system provides a different, often contradictory, rejection reason and eventually locks me out.

My document is valid. I have provided a transcript that meets academic requirements.

My document is now translated. I attempted to resolve the language barrier.

The system still rejects the document type. I am confused as to what "official or accepted document type" means when a university transcript is rejected. Every university has a different transcript structure.

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED:

I have exhausted all my attempts and cannot proceed.

Please help me break this cycle. I am saddened that a technical fault is preventing me from accessing critical tools for my education.

Thank you for your immediate and decisive action.

New update!

Dear SheerID Team, education@figma.com, and the Community Support Team,

I am delighted to confirm that I have just received the email notification: My student verification has been successfully approved!

This success is the direct result of the manual review process I previously requested after multiple system failures. After being asked just this morning to submit my translated transcript and Student ID Card directly, the issue was resolved immediately.

Thank you so much to the entire team for prioritizing this request and taking the time for a manual check. Your intervention finally allowed a valid student to be approved despite the frustrating permanent verification loop.

To other students experiencing the same issue: please be patient and continue communicating with the SheerID and Education teams. I know they handle a massive volume of inquiries, and my case proves that being persistent in requesting a manual review will lead to a proper resolution.

Thank you once again for your professional and necessary support.

Hello Figma Team,

I’m a postgraduate design student at Monash University, and I’ve been trying to access Figma’s Education Program for several weeks now. Unfortunately, what should be a simple verification process has turned into a loop of rejections, blocked attempts, and system errors — all thanks to SheerID.

Here’s what happened:

  • I submitted my government-issued ID (first a South Australia Age Card, then my passport), as requested. The photos were clear, glare-free, and unedited — I followed every requirement listed.
  • As a result, I received “We were unable to confirm your identity”, with no explanation given.
  • Even more frustratingly, I was never given a chance to upload my student ID or proof of enrolment — the verification flow simply didn’t include that step.
  • Eventually, I was locked out entirely with a “Verification Limit Exceeded” screen, despite doing everything by the book.
  • SheerID’s support did reply (and I genuinely appreciate that their support staff were polite), but they just reset the process and asked me to try again — which, of course, led to the exact same problem.

At this point, I feel completely defeated. I’m trying to access Figma for actual university assignments, and yet I’m stuck in a broken system that doesn’t seem to recognize real, valid documentation. I’m not trying to get a discount or game the system — I’m just a student trying to do her work.

I’ve always respected Figma as a brand, and I know your support team is doing their best, but I can’t help feeling that hiding behind SheerID is not the solution. If SheerID’s system is failing real students, then Figma should take responsibility for stepping in and providing a human pathway to support.

I’m more than happy to provide my student ID, enrolment letter, even join a video call if necessary. I just need someone to care enough to solve the problem.

Please.

a Postgraduate Design Student, Monash University

The sheerid is not providing support to anyone and is denying the verification.

Hey @Laila_Nur_Fardah, glad to hear that you got your student verification successfully approved! 🎉

I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through such a back-and-forth process, but I truly appreciate your patience. Thank you for taking time to encourage other community members to stay patient and keep communicating with SheerID. Your message will definitely help others who might face a similar situation.

For everyone else in the community: please keep in mind that the verification process higher education students is fully managed by SheerID, and it can sometimes take a bit of time for them to review submissions and respond to inquiries. The Community Support Team is doing their best to share feedback internally and improve the experience, but we unfortunately can’t intervene while your case is still under review by SheerID.

So, if you’ve already contacted SheerID support, we kindly ask that you wait for their response before reaching back out. Once they’ve replied, we’ll be in a much better position to assist further if needed.

Thank you all for your understanding and your patience!
