Hey All, thanks again for your patience while the team worked through this issue!

As @Natthan originally suspected, this team confirmed that this is an issue with Snapdragon X Elite drivers from Qualcomm, which is causing WebGL to fail. This is a minimum requirement of Figma, so because of thid, the app doesn't launch as expected. The flag is forcing the use of Vulkan, which works as an alternative. To learn more about why this isn't working, you can reach out to Qualcomm directly. The workaround comes from this forum post.

Here are the steps to mitigate this:

  1. Create a shortcut of figma.exe
  2. Open properties of the shortcuts
  3. Add “--enable-features=Vulkan --disable-gpu-compositing” at the end of the target
  4. Apply and launch Figma with the shortcut

Please try this solution and let us know if you run into any further issues.

Works, after closing Figma via Task Manager 👍

Unfortunately, it still doesn't work for me - I'm still getting the error message.

Hi @gastromaticarl, thanks for letting us know!

Can you please confirm your graphics card and/or driver?  This specific issue solution was primarily for users with Snapdragon X Elite drivers from Qualcomm.

With that information, we can try to troubleshoot a better and more specific solution for you.

Dell XPS 13 9345 with Snapdragon X Elite and Adreno X1-85 GPU

I initially used driver 31.0.114.0.
After updating to 31.0.121.1, the WebGL issue appeared.

Unfortunately, downgrading back to 31.0.114.0 did not resolve the problem

Hi,

I’m getting a WebGL error every time I try to open Figma Desktop for ARM. I’ve tried reinstalling Adreno Graphics drivers, but it made no difference. The error says, “We can’t open this file because we’re having trouble with WebGL.”

I’ve looked at other threads with the same issue, but I wasn’t able to resolve the problem. Can someone in the Figma team please fix this.

Specifications

  • Snapdragon(R) X 12-core X1E80100 @ 3.40 GHz (3.42 GHz)
  • 16GB DDR5 Memory
  • 512GB Solid State Drive
  • Adreno X1-85 GPU (31.0.121.1)
  • Windows 11 Home 25H2 (ARM64)

Hi @Yams, thanks for reaching out about this!

I’ve merged your topic with this existing similar one to keep things organized and in one place for others in the community. If the temporary solution listed above isn’t working for you, our next recommendation is completely removing the driver and reinstall the previous version where it was still working for you.

If that still doesn't solve the issue, we encourage you to reach out to Qualcomm directly for support. For example, there is a support forum thread already open for this issue on their side: https://mysupport.qualcomm.com/supportforums/s/question/0D5dK000008Fr8nSAC/figma-desktop-arm-app-is-having-issue-with-webgl-with-display-driver-version-310960

Also tried this and everything else and still get the error on Figma Desktop app (still works on Chrome/Edge/Firefox) which is really annoying because I used Figma on arm64 for more than a year and there was no graphics driver update or anything, but a Figma update broke it months ago and it’s still not fixed.
