Bug: Copy and paste of images doesn't work

Hey ​@Finn_BR_Studio — thanks for flagging this, and sorry to hear you're running into trouble copying images.

I just tested this in a Figma Design file on my end and was able to copy and paste images as expected, so let’s see if we can narrow down what might be causing things to behave differently on your side.

A few things to double check:

1. Are you using the Figma Desktop App or a web browser? If it's the Desktop App, is it updated to version 125.5.6?
2. If you're using a browser, which one? And do you have any extensions or plugins installed that might affect copy/paste behavior?
3. Does this happen with all images and files, or just a specific one?
4. Does this happen when selecting images directly from the canvas, from the layers panel on the left, or both?

If everything checks out and you're still seeing the issue, the best next step might be to reach out to Figma Support so they can take a closer look. When you do, it’s helpful to include:

• the link to this Forum thread for context
• a screen recording of the issue (including left/right panels, if possible)
• a link to the affected file
• edit access for support-share@figma.com.

I am experiencing the same issue in all of my files… I have quit Figma, re-started my computer… Everything and still have the issue.

1. I m using the Figma Desktop App, Version 125.6.4
2. I m using a few plugins but didnt install one lately. Non of them is copying image related.
3. Its not working with all images/videos. Also across both my accounts
4. Copying an image from the canvas is working, but its not working when I double click it and copy it from the Fill panel to implement it into another frame.

​@Finn_BR_Studio I found a solution in another post that could be useful, for now, while the bug isn’t fixed.

​@Figma_Support This is still not the most efficient way to copy/paste images from the fill panel. Please fix this soon as it slows down the working process significantly.

Has recently occurred in the last 2-3 days with the new update. Any solutions so far?

I’m algo having this issue. It’s paaaaaaainfuuuuuuuuul & extremely time consuming for our team 😟

Same issue here! Lost the functionality of copy pasting images directly into frame sometime within the last month.
