Why are some of my images and buttons (call-to-actions) no longer appearing in preview mode or when I try to export the design into PDF? While they are visible on the artboard itself when designing.

Hi @Transtek_Systems,

It’s frustrating when those pesky images and buttons decide to play hide-and-seek during the crucial moments, right? 😅 Let’s unravel this mystery together.

Why do images and buttons sometimes vanish in PDF exports or preview mode in Figma? Here are a few possible culprits:

Layer Hierarchy Matters: Check the layers panel. The object you’re trying to export must be a child of the frame you’re exporting. It should belong to the frame, regardless of where it sits on the canvas. Sometimes, these little rebels escape their designated frame and go on a vacation to the Bermuda Triangle of design elements. So, make sure they’re cozy and nested correctly.

Vector vs. Raster: PDF export can be a bit finicky. Sometimes, vector objects created in Figma or raster images imported into Figma decide to take a break from the PDF party. They might be sipping piña coladas on a tropical island while you’re left with a blank space. 🏝

Fonts and Shadows: When exporting, try to make everything into outlines. Flatten fonts, circles with borders, and anything that doesn’t have shadows or opacity. It’s like telling your design elements, “Hey, behave! We’re going to the PDF ball, and everyone needs to look sharp.”

The Purple Phantom: Ah, the infamous purple frames! If you see these instead of your images, you’re not alone. Some folks have witnessed this mysterious phenomenon. One workaround is to replace the missing vector with a lookalike. It’s like having an understudy step in for the missing star. 🌟

Zoom Out and Wait: If you’re using the Figma Windows app, try this: zoom out to load everything into memory. Let it sit there, contemplating life, and then export. Sometimes, it magically finds all the markers and assembles the PDF like a pro.

Remember, design tools have their quirks, just like that one colleague who insists on using Comic Sans. 🙃 But hey, we adapt, we troubleshoot, and we create. Happy designing, and may your buttons never ghost you again! 👩‍🎨🔍🎨
