In the last few days when using Figma, the browser frequently crashes, prompting out of memory, which was rarely encountered before last week, and the Figma file itself has not undergone any major changes, so I don’t know what’s the reason.
Computer memory: 16g
Hey @zhurui644834655 ,
Thanks for reaching out to the community, and sorry for the trouble!
Figma is browser-based, and every browser has its own active memory limit of ~2GB per browser tab.
As a workaround, for instance if you break your file down into multiple smaller files, the performance of Figma will improve significantly. You can check a full list of memory reducing tips that may help you here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040528173-Reduce-memory-usage-in-files?source=search
After switching to the new UI, I’ve been seeing a significant spike in “out of memory” or other crashes in Figma, even on small files. I just created a simple file and started assembling images next to text labels, and Figma crashed when I clicked on a variant of this simple component. This happened repeatedly. Changing a variant on another instance also led to a crash.
Again, this is on a very simple file - a component with a collection of 30 images (as variants), a title text component and a description text component. Figma has handled orders of magnitude more complicated files in the past, and now struggles with trivial ones.
Changing back to the old UI fixed these issues for me. The new UI causes some serious memory issues, not to mention (cobject Object])
appearing in input fields.
Hey Damian, thanks for letting us know about the performance issue on UI3, and sorry to hear this is happening! If you are still encounter this issue and the article I shared doesn’t help, feel also free to reach out directly to the support team with a copy of your file. They can investigate it further what’s the root cause of this issue: here
Be sure to use your Figma account email, include a link to the file, and share it with support-share@figma.com as an Editor, so we can take a closer look.
