Question

My Prototype is running very slow/ laggy on Figma Mobile app/ Mirroring

I’m working on some mobile app mockups with very few frames in the prototype trying to test a few gestures. When I load it onto my phone using the mobile app it runs very poorly. I thought it might be image sizes so I compressed them by exporting them at the right size and still terrible performance. Then I removed the images entirely and just used vector shapes, still awful.

I am running it on a Pixel 7 Pro with the app updated. I have deleted and redownloaded the app and used new files with just simple frames. Nothing seems to make the Figma app work well.

Is there a better way to test mobile gestures on a device with touch?

PS. I saw other topics like this one Here that is very similar to my issues from a year ago with no solutions.

Hey All, thank you for continuing to surface this issue and for your patience!

First of all, please let me acknowledge the lack of response from the team here; I completely understand the continued frustration it has caused.

Please let me reassure you that this is a confirmed bug, and our mobile team is actively working to reproduce and resolve it. To be fully transparent, we don’t have a specific timeline to share just yet, but please know it’s on our radar and being prioritized.

In the meantime, one thing that can help in some cases is checking your file’s memory usage. If the file is running high, the tips in our Help Center article below can often reduce that load and improve performance while we continue to work on a fix:
https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040528173-Reduce-memory-usage-in-files#hidden-layers

Thank you again for bearing with us. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

I’m trying to use a prototpe for remote user testing on mobile via the share-link, and the prototype takes forever to load on mobile. On desktop however it loads fast without issue. This is such a bummer since I won’t be able to use the share-link for user tests the prototype.

Unfortunately , same issue making presenting the mobile prototype to the client is a disaster and not user friendly at all. image how bad to avoid presenting mobile app prototype at all so clients didn't face this experience and wonder what happening! it gives very bad impression.

It sounds like you’ve already tried the usual fixes. On Figma Mobile, even simple prototypes can lag because the app isn’t fully optimized for complex interactions or frequent gesture testing. A few tips: try testing gestures on fewer frames at a time, use smaller vector groups instead of many individual layers, or test with Figma Mirror only for interaction flow rather than full visual fidelity. For smoother gesture testing, some designers use prototyping tools like Framer or Principle that are built for mobile touch interactions.
