Hey there!
If your file was deleted, but not permanently, you may be able to recover the file! The good news is that we don’t permanently delete files from Figma unless you manually click “delete forever” or if you delete the team or project that the file was in.

You will be able to restore the file by opening your Drafts then opening the Deleted tab. Right click on the file and click Restore. The file will then be restored to the project it originally resided in.

To see all available files that can be restored, please make sure that you also set the “Created by” filter to “anyone” rather than “you.” You, and anyone else who had access to edit that file should be able to find it and restore it this way.

Here’s a guide from our Help Center with more information on this: Delete and restore files.

If this doesn’t help, I’d suggest you to reach out directly to the support team with a link of your file (if you prefer not to share it publicly here) so they can check your permission’s right: here Hope this helps!

Hey there! You can undo by using this shortcut : Command+Z

You can also keep track of changes you’ve made to your files with version history, to get access a file’s version history from the file name menu:

  1. Click on an empty spot in the canvas to deselect any layers.
  2. In the toolbar, click the Screenshot 2024-10-23 at 10.34.48 next to the file name.
  3. Select Show Version History from the options.
  4. Figma will show the file’s version history in the right sidebar.

You can also check our guide for more information here:

Figma Learn - Help Center

I hope this helps!

Hey @Abdullah Tariq and @Akash Gupta! I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve lost your files—I know how frustrating that must be. Let’s try a few steps to see if we can recover them.

First, please check:

  • If the file is in your Deleted folder (Go to Drafts > Click Deleted). If it’s there, right-click to restore it.
  • If a teammate who had access to the file may have moved it.
  • That you’re logged into the correct Figma account—try switching accounts from the top-right or top-left corner of the file browser.

A few more things to check:

  1.  Could you confirm if these files were drafts?

For users on a Starter or Professional team, we’ve relocated where your drafts live. You’ve been asked to move your drafts into a team space.
Just to clarify, with the recent change we made, the contents of the side bar view will now depend on the team you’ve selected in the drop down.

  2. Can you check the team picker in the sidebar to see if the missing files are in another team space?

  3. Check in the Deleted section of your Drafts to Move folder.

  1. Do you have any file links for these drafts? You might find them in:
  • Your web browser history
  • Past conversations where you shared the file
  • The File > Recently Closed menu in the desktop app

If you can provide the URLs for the missing drafts, that would really help us investigate further. Let me know what you find, and I’ll do my best to get this sorted for you both!

Hey @wm88! I found your support ticket (Ticket number #1264451) and checked the file link from your ticket. It looks like your draft has been deleted. When a file is deleted, it usually moves to the Deleted section of your Drafts. Could you please check there to see if it’s available? From there, you should be able to restore it.

Let me know if you have any trouble finding it or if there's anything else I can assist with. I’m happy to help!
