Question

Figma keeps saying I'm Offline

Figma keeps saying I’m offline and that it’s not syncing any changes, even when I have very fast and consistent internet connection (Zoom, Slack, CreativeCloud all work fine). And what’s strange is that it’s only for one project at a time. I have four different projects open and the others are syncing fine. And it’s not always the same project that has trouble syncing. Last week it was a different one that wasn’t syncing. Figma is up-to-date as well.

I have had this issue for a week now and it’s incredibly frustrating. Any solutions?

Hey @Isildur_Green , @minhyuncho , I am working closely with Toku!

To help you find a quick solution, could you please make sure to follow the steps shared by Toku below? If the issue still persists after that, feel free to reach out to our support team here — they'll be happy to take a closer look and help you get to the bottom of it. Thanks!

1. Can you check and confirm if you see the same problem in any other browsers you have on your computer? Our supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

2. Does this also happen on another network, like a mobile hotspot?
If it’s just happening on one network, you may need to adjust your proxy VPN or firewall settings as shown in Adjust your network settings or speak to your IT Admins or ISP. Generally for problems affecting a single network we’re not able to troubleshoot as it would require access to your system or network settings.

If these don’t work, could you submit a bug report detailing the steps that led to this issue? You can do so by following the link: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041468234-Submit-a-bug-report

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi @Celine_D

1. I currently have the Figma app installed and using it on my m2 iMac, not an internet browser.

2. i am working in a company as an imployee. The internet is secured through Zscaler and we don't have access to any other wifi.

I'm also splitting files when they get heavy, to make sure Figma doesn't run out of memory.

But sometimes I get an icon with an X in the cloud. And it works offline.

Internet access through other browsers like chrome, safari, edge, etc. is fine.

Thanks for sharing those details @minhyuncho ! That does seem a bit unusual — it should normally work just fine. To dig deeper, I’d love for our technical quality team to take a closer look at this.

Could you please submit a bug report by filling out this form here ?

When you do, be sure to:

This information will really help our team investigate further. Thanks so much for your help! 🙏

I've seen similar random sync issues before, could be a permissions conflict or a background service stalling. We had a related problem in a Lon ltd prototype workflow, and clearing cache plus duplicating the file helped.

I keep seeing the cloud with an X in it on my Figma file on the Figma App. I have restarted my app and my computer and it still shows. I have a strong internet connection so I don’t think that is the issue. I am also unable to copy and paste elements in this file. I have also lost my bottom tool bar in all my Figma files.

Hey Jess Daiger, thanks for flagging it and for sharing the screenshot!

Here are few things you can try:

  • Is it happening on browser, desktop app or both? I’d recommend first to try force-quitting and reopening Figma to see if that helps.
  • Check this guide : What are the system requirements for Figma? Make sure your desktop app and browser are up to date.
    -  For browsers, update to the latest version and enable automatic updates when possible.
    -  For the desktop app, we recommend keeping the desktop app updated to the latest available version. If you are not on the latest version, you’ll see a message in-app if an update is available.
  • Are you using Figma on a work-managed device or network (VPN, firewall, etc.)?
When you see the cloud icon with an “X,” it means Figma considers you offline — often because a connection is being blocked (for example, by a company VPN, proxy, or firewall). If that’s the case, try adjusting your settings as outlined here: Adjust your network settings, or reach out to your IT admin or ISP for help, as Toku mentioned.
For issues that only affect one network, our ability to troubleshoot is limited since it would require access to your local setup.

If none of these steps work, could you please submit a bug report detailing what led to this issue and share your console log in the form? That’ll help our team investigate further. Thank you!

Thank you @Celine_  It looks like it was an issue overall with Figma that has now been fixed.

I am having the same issue. Figma wont save my file and keeps giving me warning that my data is not saved.
