Figma app lag issues

Experiencing similar issues.
I’ve cleaned the file, removed components, etc. Still some insane lag when doing small edits in components.

My only change is that I recently installed the update via homebrew.

Same for me. Figma has started lagging a lot, to the point that even the simplest designs are inducing headache!

Me and my full team have problems with lags as well. We all use MacBook Pros.
In my case M2 Max, 16 inch, desktop app. We’re trying to build a prototype for user testing and it’s just not usable 😕 The file is new and not very loaded.

Edit: I tried using the browser app (Safari) and it’s just as bad.

I really hope you stop working on features nobody needs or is allowed to use (hello from Europe) and get Figma stable again + improve existing features we really need. At some point even big corps like mine will move on…

Same here, working nice and smooth on my 2021 14" M1 MBP but on my office based 27" intel iMac it’s slowing to an absolute crawl, even in new empty project files.

I’ve cleared cache, tried in different browsers rather than desktop app, and anything else that’s been suggested too. Project file I’m using right now says it’s utilising 5% memory, GPU usage of Figma Helper (GPU) is only 0.5% GPU and 0.0% CPU in Activity Monitor.

I am also using UI3 beta.

I’ve spoken with our support’s technical quality about this, and how to move forward. In reviewing all of your replies/reports with them, they request bug tickets be filed by each person affected by this individually (including your other affected teammates, if they are willing).

I totally understand that this may not be the answer you wanted from me directly, but we are concerned that there’s a common problem that is affecting all of you. Due to the limitations I have here on the forum, I unfortunately can’t be of more service here 😞 Individual accounts/files now need to be reviewed.

I’ll add one more thing to this thread – while I appreciate the intention to cluster related bug tickets, I think it’s plain to see that this isn’t some singular technical issue across affected files that can be tracked down and eliminated. The features Figma has rolled out across the past 2-3 years simply aren’t stable or designed to handle any amount of complexity.

Figma components and Figma variables were very promising features initially, but they never seem to have made it out of their beta phase. It’s laughable that I can’t run a prototype on a 1.8GHz device (which are what our real users work with) because a single button press takes several seconds to trigger a response.

If Figma does not intend to roll out stable, functional solutions for components, variables and prototyping, then I wonder what kind of tool it strives to be in the long term. It does okay at handing off specs, but if that is all that can reasonably be expected, I could hand-annotate my designs like the good old days and probably still save money.

I am also facing the same issue on desktop app. Looks like recent updates making app performance slower. They must improve the app as well to make it stable.

Just to add to this thread, I’m also having perfomance issues on both web and desktop (Windows 10 and Mac M1). It was working great until the last updates or so. Hope this issue gets fixed soon.

Laggy here as well since recent updates.
