Cannot enter dev mode

I have just upgraded to Professional because I want to enter dev mode to edit someone else’s files.

When I try to do that, I get a message saying, “Upgrade to work in dev mode”.

I have upgraded. This works on my own files, so why not on this?

If the response is that the owner of the file also needs a Professional plan(I don’t really know how the ownership thing works in Figma), then I am going to be quite upset, since that is clearly a scam. There is no reason other than to take more money from people for organising the system in that way.

So hopefully that is not the reason – what am I missing?

I have Professional plan, I should be able to open any file I like in dev mode?

Figma plans are team-based, not account-based. So, you can use dev mode only in files located in your Professional team.

You can duplicate other people’s files to your team and use dev mode there. It’s not a perfect solution, but at least it works.
