Animation glitch

Fede_Mondino

Does anybody know why am I getting a glitchy animation when I try to make an expandible menu? Like an accordion dropdown. When I want to animate a frame or a rectangle from the size A to size B, it works but with a visual glitch, and it’s more noticeable when using rounded corners.

I made a basic animation, click the small rectangle, it expands, click again, it goes to the start size… there are 2 versions, one of them with rounded corners, one without them. Here is a screenshot of the glich when I play the animation. I would love to post a video but I can’t do that yet (I’m pretty new to the forums).

I already have a solution to make the animation work like I want, but it’s more complicated in terms of structure of the component, and I really want to know if this is a bug or if I’m doing something wrong.

Thank you all!

I’ve checked internally, I can confirm that we were able to reproduce the issue.

Can you share a proto link so we can see for ourselves?

Sure! Here is the URL: https://figmashort.link/32Zbj2

Thanks. Try changing the rectangle shape, to a frame with border radius. See if that helps the transition.

Hi @Fede_Mondino

Looks like a bug to me that should be reported to Figma : Figma : Submit bug report

I replicate your issue, and it appears the animation become glitchy when a stroke is applied to an element. Without it everything worked as expected.
(Tested with Frame, Auto-layout Frame and Rectangle — same result each time)

Thanks Luke, but as I said at the beggining of the post, I tried with both frames and rectangles and it didn’t work 😓

Thank you Haroll! I’m going to report it!

Same thing for me… I was wondered if it applies to auto-layout only, but this issue reproduces even for the pure rectangle. Here, it works fine for enlarging, but has the glitch when clicked and shrinks back: https://www.figma.com/design/2dnmDI3dBAmZpKax3RgXU6/Untitled?node-id=1-2&t=99qRYQ1CG5t7CK3m-1

Hi Celine, yes I received the email from Anju, but she was asking me to make or send things that I had already made or sent, so I never responded again.

I didn’t want to waste any more time on that issue, I just wanted to let you know about the glitch so you could review it, but it’s not something that prevents me from doing my job and that’s why I didn’t give it much importance.

It’s easy to reproduce the glitch, as you can see, Haroll did it and left a gif in this same topic, I hope you can fix it very soon.

PS: Just in case, I never wanted to sound rude, I’m not a native English speaker and I don’t know if the expressions I used were the correct ones to communicate what I needed. Sorry in advance if that was the case, and thank you for your interest in helping me!
