This just happened to me. Logged in to find file I was working on last night missing. Luckily found it in Drafts → Deleted → Created by anyone

I lost all my work. Just some loose ends left. Can’t find it in drafts deleted or via search. Note: login after a long time but account still there. So files should be there as well.

What to do?

I fixed mine. I saw that the file I worked months on disappeared. Then I realised that I had deleted my Team at the same time thinking I didn’t need it. So I went to the email “team has been deleted”, clicked “restore your team here” in the email and it came back.

Hi. I’m facing the same issue with a former contractor. We can’t find the file in the “Deleted” sections, nor use the “from anyone” either.

I’ve transferred the ownership to my contractor, he didn’t delete the team or the file and we are not finding it anywhere.

I have precisely the same issue. Months of work just gone. It’s not in the deleted tab either.

Was anybody able to retrieve the lost file? I experienced the same issue just a while ago.

This seems like a common bug, and it is atrocious. I have lost all the designs of my product.

the same thing seems happened to me and I found mine by going to Draft, Deleted, and using the filter to change the option to Create by others. I hope this might help someone… good luck guys. It was 2 years of my work, and I never thought about downloading a backup file until this crazy scary thing happened. I’m just glad that I found it.

Hi, were you able to restore the files by any chance? It just has happend to me too and I’m in despair.

My issue was solved! So I wrote to the support about this issue and noted, that the draft which is missing was created my me from my older work figma account, which is no longer available to me since i don’t work there anymore. Still, before moving from my old account I sent my projects to the new account and sent my new account as a new editor, so everything was working well until the day my draft disappeared.

Support asked me if i have any link to project, but I had none. Then support offered me to change the email on my old account so that i can log in there, because it seems like account still existed. They asked me some security questions about that account, I prooved myself, and email was changed! I logged in my old account, and how happy i was to see my draft existing there! But the most interesting was the name. On my new account i was searching this file with the wrong name, in reality it was another one. So when I returned to my new account and tried to search it with it’s real name…it was there! Even though it wasn’t shown in recent drafts, deleted drafts and not even in “created by anyone” filter, it was all the time there, I just needed to search with proper name! So 2 conclusions here:

-Figma really needs to fix their issue on showing all the drafts properly, they are not gone, they jost got not visible, so later they can be found either just from browser history or link history in the address bar

-Always name and remember your project names, they turned out to be important

I also lost my files. Previously, I logged into my figma account through the login and password of my Google mail. Today I accidentally went through a direct login from Google mail and I have a completely empty figma account. Again logging in through the login and password, I was asked to reset the password and the account is empty again. What to do? How to recover files?

I have the same issue. I searched my drafts and deleted files and still can’t find the missing file. I’m still using the same email since I started using Figma so I don’t know where the issue is coming from…never deleted this file. Can anyone help?

Hey @Donald_Duru,

As in the solution listed above, if the file isn’t in your Deleted tab can you ensure to set the filter to ‘Created by: Anyone’ to see if the file shows that way?

If you didn’t delete the file, but the file was deleted, it’ll likely only show in the file creator’s Deleted tab.

My file literally disappeared in front of my eyes. Massive panic. Very important file containing years if work.

Change the view of ‘deleted items’ to ‘Created by: Anyone’ was the answer! There was the file just sitting there. No idea how it was deleted.
