Is it possible to re-arrange the order of layers when using instances of a component?

I have an ordered list, which I am re-using across multiple pages in Figma. So I have created the list as a component and have instances of that component.

Depending on what screen that instance is used on, the order of the menu items needs to change. If this wasn’t a component, I would be able to easily re-arrange the order of the layers. However, when editing an instance the option to re-order layers isn’t there

Is there a way to do this easily? Or is there another way I should be doing this? I basically want one component which covers everything so I don’t have to update the content in multiple places when it gets updated.

Fully Editable Component Instances

I made a plugin to solve exactly this issue, and my aim is that you’ll never have to detach your instance ever again, it is a nice little tool to put in your toolbox before this requested feature happens (if ever)

I am so sorry that you’re only one aware how this actually should work. Enormous props to you for making this possible (if guys from Figma could just realize how useful this is).
