How to distribute objects equally spaced?

I have unevenly distributed circles (#1 on my screen)

I select them all, go to Distribute Vertical Spacing and when I do this, the lower circle moves! (#2 on the screenshot)

Is it possible to use this tool as it should be used and as it is described in Figma Help?

  • Distribute vertical spacing: both the top and bottom objects or layers will maintain their position.

The trick is to use auto layout.
