It would be really nice to build a gradient variable tool where you can set amount of colors and stop position as well as angle vs just being able to apply a standard color variable to a gradient stop. This new feature seems half baked.

Variable support for gradients is just not usable right now. We have a library of different brands, and our brands define tokens as both solid colours OR gradients.
Setting these tokens up as styles just doesn’t work, and we desperately need to be able to set a variable up as a gradient or a solid colour.
Not sure why the gradient colour picker isn’t just available in the variables tool, there must be some technical reason for this, but it’s an absolute blocker right now for using variables effectively.
Hi @Seb_Bailey, Thanks for sharing your thought about Gradient variables.
After doing some research, I discovered that another member of the community had a similar suggestion. In order to keep all the similer feedback in one place, I’ve merged your post with the already existing thread here.

Very much needed here too.
We need the possibility for example in a button to use a solid color or a gradient for theming.
