Creating my own UI kits?

Hey all, I’ve noticed this really nice update where Figma has added UI kits as a library that i can now plug into and you can pull in examples from these design system that are editable but also have components in them.

I was wondering whether we have the power to publish our own design systems as a UI kit for our teams and create examples?

Thanks

Hi @Sarah_Jones, Thank you for reaching out about this!

UI kits are libraries curated by Figma and its partners. Currently, there are three UI kits available, and there isn’t an option to add your owns to the UI kits.

However, if you are on a paid plan, the team admin can set libraries for the team. This enables you to conveniently share styles, components, and variables across team files.

I hope this clarifies things for you. Please let us know if I misunderstood anything!

Thanks again for reaching out.

Hi junko,

Thanks that answer that, however is the examples section unique to UI kits or is this another feature?

We are on a paid plan btw.

I noticed this shortly after the launch of the UI Kits.

Instances of examples seem to automatically detach when inserted in a file. I searched high and low trying to figure out how they did that, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to do that in my own component library.

Yes i thought it was a really good idea, especially for creating design patterns for other designers. If this isn’t a feature I would love to have it as one.
