Transfer from Make to Design

What’s the purpose of Make and your AI tool?  You should have that seamlessly transition to design so it can be exported for practical purpose.  Having that ability alone would be such a great value proposition.  Right now, it’s virtually useless. 

So big requestor of this too however I will say there’s a pretty easy workaround.

Publish your Make prototype - open on chrome. Install html.to.design extension. 

Export page by page (the app also has the ability for you to export from chrome extension into Figma. 

Now you have a carbon copy editable Figma file of your make prototype.

Not official but working one: publish as website then use html.to.design plugin to bring it back into Figma.

This does not work with Figma Make. When converting to Figma Design, a black screen is displayed and that's it.

What is the point of Make when you cant transfer the result to a design file. Looks like an attempt to force people into using Site, no way anyone on the team never pointed such a critical feature.

+1, we need to be able to move figma make → figma design. not all of the apps needs to be typescript, we need design file to be able to move it to that engine/language it needs to be run on

So prefer it to be marked as not solved.

All other AI design tools let users convert their work into Figma designs. This way, you can start iterating with AI and then fine-tune the results yourself. It also means you can hand off the design to a third-party company for development. However, Figma does not allow you to edit Figma Make files as regular design files, and you also can’t hand off designs created in Figma Make. So, what’s the point of using it? Another AI web site builder? We don’t need that, we need an AI assisted design tool that allows us to co-operate with it. 

 

+1 to the ask! For the immediate use, I just tried to publish a Figma Make prototype and then re-import with html.to.design plugin - got a pretty basic file but it does the job!

There is no way for Figma Make to be an end all be all solution. There should be a way to customize and refine the design further back to Figma Editor.
