+1, we need to be able to move figma make → figma design. not all of the apps needs to be typescript, we need design file to be able to move it to that engine/language it needs to be run on
So prefer it to be marked as not solved.
All other AI design tools let users convert their work into Figma designs. This way, you can start iterating with AI and then fine-tune the results yourself. It also means you can hand off the design to a third-party company for development. However, Figma does not allow you to edit Figma Make files as regular design files, and you also can’t hand off designs created in Figma Make. So, what’s the point of using it? Another AI web site builder? We don’t need that, we need an AI assisted design tool that allows us to co-operate with it.
+1 to the ask! For the immediate use, I just tried to publish a Figma Make prototype and then re-import with html.to.design plugin - got a pretty basic file but it does the job!
There is no way for Figma Make to be an end all be all solution. There should be a way to customize and refine the design further back to Figma Editor.
This should not be tagged as “Resolved” yet. :)
Hi
I marked my response as Best Answer just to make sure the latest update on this feature request is easy to find, especially since there are quite a few replies in the thread. I completely agree that it’s not a “solution” in the sense that the feature is available. It’s more about helping others quickly see the current status (which, unfortunately, is that it's not supported yet).
To avoid any confusion, I’ve updated the message for clarity and switched the topic type to a Conversation, so the reply remains pinned without showing as “Solved.”
The thread will stay open, and I’ll make sure to post any future updates as soon as we have them.
Really appreciate you both for keeping things clear and helping us maintain accurate information here
You can do it using the html.to.design Figma plugin

Not true for me

I’m not sure what could be the issue, here is a step by step guide, with video example

IMHO, the Prototype features of Figma Design are not very rich. Adequate for plain navigation, but not very easy or even capable for more complex interactions or micro-animations. (Smart Animation can get you further, but its features and options are defining the design.)
Did Figma Make solve this ? Partially. In half of the cases it works surprisingly well and creative, in the other half you can spend hours on tweaking what the AI just doesn't seem to understand.
But what's really annoying and making it all quite useless, is that this is just a one-way workflow. Like a stand-alone gimmick, fun to experiment with, but completely unhinged from the Mothership. That's not how users work…
I trust Figma to very rapidly progress in this.
Definitely necessary! What is the point of Make if you can’t fully and re-use customize the output?
Adding a like to this, I was looking for the same question. Once I have a "Make" Design I would like to be able to edit it manually for tweaking and in general apply changes on the fly if managers ask for it
Its an imperfect workaround but its possible to use plugins like html.to.design and pull in the Make content when you are viewing it in a browser…
