Toggle visibility of DevMode Annotations on the design side

Grayson_Price

The new DevMode annotations tool is Awesome!!! Having lots of annotations tends to clutter up the screen on the design side, however, and it would be nice to be able to toggle their visibility on and off like with comments or multiplayer cursors. I had assumed that hiding comments would hide these as well, but such is not the case.

Hey @Grayson_Price, thank you for your feedback!

You have the option to hide annotations:

  1. Click Main menu in the toolbar.
  2. Hover over View in the dropdown.
  3. Deselect Annotations.

You can find more information here: Hide annotations

Feel free to reach out if you’ve further questions!

Hi @Gayani_S, thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately that options is not available on the design side, it only shows up on the devmode side. My original post was a request to add this feature to the design side.

Andrew_Duna

Adding onto this — It would be great to have a way to easily toggle their visibility on and off, as well as see if there are annotations while they’re toggled off. Our engineers sometimes need to turn off the annotations to see the screen behind them, but will forget that they’re been toggled off and end up missing annotations throughout the file.

+1 It would be great to hide annotations in the design mode.

+1 on being able to also hide the annotations on design side! Love the annotations, but they clutter the design if just going through the designs! 🙂

Chrispy_Chris_Petrillo

unfortunately this doesn’t help on the design side.

Chrispy_Chris_Petrillo

Hey everyone, thanks for the clarification!

Let me pass this feedback internally to the team for consideration.

Thanks,
Gayani

+1!! I also need this

I’m hoping dev annotations in the Design view will be removed SOON. They are so distracting and not relevant in Design mode. My vote is to NEVER have them show in Design mode or defaulted to Off. They are driving me crazy especially when copying designs and still having them show up. Deleting them is incredibly tedious.

Our design team likes the option to use the Annotation hints in design mode, but would also like the ability to quickly hide them.

Being able to have the annotations toggle on / off in design mode would be a huge help. I take A LOT of screenshots to get rapid feedback and they’re constantly in the way.

How is this so hard to implement. It’s bugging out everyone, and it seems like a quick fix. Figma became the very thing it promised not to be.

Niels_de_Rijk

Not sure why dev annotations should be hiding part of my designs all the time -- we need a toggle to turn this off!

Annotations are polluting the design space. This feels like a bug. Please make them hidden by default in design mode

Exactly; I’m not sure why they suddenly changed it so Dev mode annotations are showing up in Design mode. This feels like a bug, not a feature. The whole point was to contain these annotations in Dev mode, why in the world would I want them in Design mode?

And yes, while technically deselecting “Annotations” under the View menu hides them, it does so on both Design and Dev mode. Did they even test this at all???

Yolanda Santa Cruz

A colleague just discovered that you can turn them off here. I hope they bring back the toggle option or a shortcut, though. This adds unnecessary steps.

If you de-select Annotations in the View menu, shift T basically works as a shortcut to show and hide annotations
