Please know that this was an intentional change made in April of last year. This was implemented after feedback from users who thought their files went missing due to the filters and/or sort orders enabled. Right now, the only page that does not reset preferences is the "Last projects" page.

And as we’ve been telling you since April of last year, this was a bad design decision that fails to accomplish the thing you are claiming it does and in fact makes it worse for everyone who wasn’t wanting to sort by last modified.

The fact that new people keep pointing out this very basic UX problem should be a strong indication to your team that they’ve missed the mark on this one.

I'm seeing the same behavior. Every time I close and reopen Figma, the sort order resets to Last modified → Newest first instead of remembering what I selected.

I don't remember this happening before—it used to keep my chosen sort option between sessions. Is this a recent change, a bug, or is there a setting I'm missing?

+1, It would be a huge time saver if this didn’t happen! We are a small team and we rely on alpha-coding the projects as our organization within Figma. To have it reset to recently modified every time is painful.

+1000
This used to work fine, then it started getting progressively worse. First it only reset on relaunch, now it does every time you bounce back and forth between two projects. Complete waste of time and a major annoyance.

I really appreciate the new features recently added to FIGMA, but please don’t sleep on basic stuff like this. There are some 20+ reports of the bug (feature?) in this thread alone – open for 7 months without any response from your side.

Fixing this would massively improve the experience for all of us. Thank you.

Adding +1 request to keep the last user choice on the dropdown permanent until the user decides to change it again - as it is the BEST UX PRACTICE.

Still having this issue, pretty poor UX to not even have it be up to the user how they want things to sort and it stay that way, you instead have to keep changing it multiple times a day.

Honestly moved away from Figma now

When is this going to be fixed? Users have been requesting this for over a year now. This is a basic, necessary function.

This is really embarrassing for you, Figma.

+1 here as well. This has been a major nuisance for our team since it forced to “last modified” as the default. Please go back to how it was before, especially now that the long awaited sub-folder feature has finally been added (thank you). I find it very frustrating being forced to sort alphabetically every.single.time.
