Slides improvement - Automatic page numbers on Slide Decks

Something powerpoint has is auto-incrementing pagination for each slide.

Will be especially useful if we are dealing with big quantities of slides like 100+ and will often need to add slides in between (Speaking from experience)

Desperately need this. I have a 120+ brand guidelines document in Figma slides, which when the order gets moved or something gets added in, i have to manually change all the page numbers.

100% agree. Having page numbers within Figma Slides would be a critical add. Many times slide page numbers are referenced for both internal and external presentations - for instances when someone might say “can we go to Slide X”…or “please reference Slide X” it is vitally important for discussion sake.

The Idea uf using Variables to manage the Slide number is both clever and consistent with the Common Figma usage. I think this should be the way to implement it

I agree entirely, and we have to be able to apply a text to become page numbers. But I think having a bit more customizability for creative freedom would be great. For example, page numbers are just one element that should be changeable, but it would also be great if it was possible to apply chapter indications so you could make the agenda a bit more like a table of contents. This means that if you had a “1.” (chapter name) and had a slide within it, if something is moved in on the slide layers, it would become “1.1.” or other similar formats that Word, for example, offers. To me, it just adds a bit more class to a presentation, and most of all, organisation and structure.

So you could end up with:

1. Chapter name
   1.1. Subject
   1.1.1. Sub-subject
   1.1.2. Sub-subject
   1.2. Subject
   1.3. Subject
2. Chapter
   And so on…

(In addition, if it also automatically updated on the agenda page it would be incredible. Again, similar to Microsoft Word they have a simple click function to say “update table of contents” and it does.)

I use this extensively, and it would make my life so much easier if I didn’t have to manually add these. Of course, there are others who prefer different settings for this, but Microsoft Word basically outlines all formats for anyone to get inspired from.

Either way, automating page numbers and chapter indications with a simple setting would save a lot of time and reduce mistakes.

Headers and footers would be a great beginning, especially if you could customise them to be placed anywhere and have creative freedom in them.

A Hundred percent agree! They would auto name slides in numerical order anyways. This would be a very helpful addition.

Hear hear! SO much time wasted re-paginating huge decks manually when one new slide gets added.
