Reorder variable collections list

Can anyone figure out how to reorder the list of variable collection in the fill dropdown? The layer ‘mode’ assignment appears to sort correctly alphabetically, but the pick list under the fill menu does not, which is a huge painpoint, and will definitely lead to my designers picking the first color they see instead of the semantic one.

Correctly sorted - numerical

Incorrectly sorted - 2. is at the top instead of 1.

    The Collections are ordered by creation date. OMG 😩

      Please let us choose how the variables and collections are sorted.

        Kind of fixed in the release. Now you can use numbers as a prefix in collection name. It will sort collection based on numbers.yay

          @Sergii is the prefix in collection name still works for you? Tried that hack and the order didn’t changed 😦

          Yeah really need this. Would also love to be able to select a specific collection to view in a library- basically extend the current option to view a specific library’s variable collection.

          Can’t believe it’s been a year soon and Figma is not on this. It is a huge pain, and makes the whole variables almost useless for bigger systems. PLEASE GET ON THIS

            Ooof, I cannot believe this is still an issue. Seems like a super basic feature. Especially since Figma is pushing Variables over Styles, you 'd think they prioritize this ability to reorder.
