[Launched] Feature request: Nested folder structure in Project

I want to create folders within folders

Hi Figma team,

We’re running into a structural challenge in our workspace that’s slowing down collaboration within our creative team. As our organisation grows, so does the number of projects we manage in Figma. Each project gets its own folder, but because folders can’t be nested or organised into deeper layers, everything ends up sitting in one giant list.

This creates a messy, hard-to-navigate workspace — especially when multiple teams and long-running projects are involved. We often work across different clients, internal initiatives, and design streams, and the lack of subfolders makes it difficult to keep things structured and find what we need quickly.

Our request:
A more advanced folder system that supports multiple levels (e.g., Workspace → Client → Project → Deliverables). This would allow us to group related projects, separate clients, distinguish internal vs. external work, and keep our workspace clean as it scales.

Why it matters:

• Reduces clutter and confusion

• Speeds up file navigation

• Helps large teams stay organised

• Supports scalable workflows as companies grow

This improvement would make a huge difference in day-to-day usability for teams like ours who manage many projects simultaneously.

This would clear up so much confusion and prevent lost time searching in large project libraries. The fuller a dashboard, the longer it takes to load as well, which is a totally preventable pain.

Document organization needs more functionality. I should be able to create sub folders under projects and sub-sub folders, etc as needed. This flat organization doesn’t allow for nuanced file organization that is needed.

Please add this functionality ASAP!

For years, I’ve been really missing/wanting the ability to create nested folders in figma projects!

Hello, my team is facing a huge problem with project file categorization, such as folders like Project 1, 2, 3, and so on. Each folder contains many version files. I would like to create new parent folders (which already exist), second-level, third-level, and even fourth-level folders to store my sub-files, so that my team can better organize the files.

Good news: Figma has begun rolling out folders, and the deeper structure you asked for is part of it! You can now nest folders up to 10 levels deep — enough for the Workspace → Client → Project → Deliverables setup you described.
