[LAUNCHED] All plans should offer more than 4 variable modes

Fair point—it’s still “arbitrary,” but at least it’s more logical if Figma’s goal is to scale features with plan tiers.

Of course, I’d love no limits, but I assume they’re there to push upgrades as team needs grow. Still, the fact that both Pro and Org plans are capped at 4 modes is bananas.

I do like your approach of asking for no limits—maybe that’s more likely to get us something better in the end. 🤷

Seconding this would be useful. I am working on a cash-strapped campaign that is putting out materials in several languages. I use variables to manage instances of the Wordmark and Other logos, but also to swap out fonts for different languages. We are producing materials in Arabic, Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, Creole, Chinese, and more, so we hit the mode limit very very quick, but cannot pay for a higher figma tier.

Is there any way we can get Figma to change this? Honestly ridiculous that our organization with only 3 full seats is unable to create a more extensive design system. We have over 30 different brands and variable modes really feels like the best solution here for us to make everything workable!

We can’t continue working properly with Figma without this basic feature and switching to an Enterprise license is entirely out of bounds.

Your pricing structure does not scale realistically.

4 variable modes are not sufficient, this limit is frustrating.

Please resolve this ASAP!

You are charging based on the size of the organisation, so this is an arbitrary limit. See, I am an individual and it doesn’t make sense for me to upgrade to enterprise for this. 

I understand the concept of ladder pricing, but this doesnt make sense.

What next? Will you restrict the number of pages per file?

It is completely arbitrary why they chose to limit modes.

Limiting the number of variables, pages, cat pictures, components or post-its would be as absurd…

@figma I 100% second this. The Organizations plan should include at least 20 variables, anything less simply won’t work, and we’re definitely not an Enterprise-level company :)
