Keep Comments pinned to design elements (including nested)

+1 for a more robust comment pinning solution. I can’t believe it’s been this long, with this many comments and still there is no way to pin a comment to an element within an auto-layout.

I wanted to share a solution, which may not be perfect but at least works for me
Here are the steps:

1. First, relocate the component or element where you intend to pin the comment outside of your frame. (Make sure it’s placed outside the frame.)
2. Next, add your comment on the element.
3. Finally, move the element back inside the frame.

After that my comment stays always in place.
I hope this is helpful for you.

This “works” for me, but I hope a fix will come. The “solution” video by @Gleb indeed seemed to work for those easy cases. But when I add some comments to a design afterwards (with nested frames) and start moving things around the comments don’t stick to elements as expected.

In addition to this idea of a temporary solution.

1. When adding comments I just add a random shape (small) next to the design on the blank artboard. So not within a frame.
2. Add my comment to that element.
3. Drag it to the position I wanted the actual comment to be. (Optional set the shape to absolute position for more control.)
4. And then I hide the element CTRL + Shift + H.

Now I can move everything around and the comment is always where I want it to be.

! A big downside… the comments placed this way don’t show up in prototypes, and it doesn’t make a difference if you hide the element yes/no…

absolutely. It’s great to get stakeholders involved in the process HOWEVER if the tools to support that are not in place the involvement could turn into anything from an embarrassment to decreased trust of the stakeholders in the design team…

imagine if Jira/Github/Jira & Github integration’s comment feature is broken or not working as expected…

Please pin comments to components within an auto layout.

I’ve just encountered this issue! Comments are attached to the frame and not the component within. Very annoying.

Very important for me, too. Please bring this feature back 🙂

I am not quite sure if it has been already mentioned but it would be awesome to be able to cut/paste comment within a frame. Right now when you cut a frame the comments stays on an empty space in the page and you have to move every one of them manually to “re-associate” them to the corresponding frame
