A common use case for prefixing a component with a period (which causes it to not be exported with the library) is to use it as a nested component. However, if the parent component is detached by a consuming file, that nested component is no longer connected to the library and won’t receive further updates. The main goal is to keep the insert menu simple, but allowing library maintainers more flexibility without having variants get out of control. The Fix: Simply, allow prefixed components like .ButtonStyles to be hidden from export, but maintain reference to original component.
Putting the drafts under the management of the organizational dimension mostly does not conform to the usage behavior in Asian regions. If a person leaves the organization, then how will his files be handled? And Figma is purchased according to the organizational dimension, then this draft mode is actually free. This mixed logic is very easy to mislead users. (Is my current file paid? And will it bring additional expenses to the organization after I share this file?) Therefore, as far as my current usage situation is concerned, I prefer the original interaction usage logic: using the draft box function under the personal dimension. If possible, the draft box can consider adding the function of group classification to help users summarize and classify all drafts through the classification method according to personal habits.
The shift+backspace hotkey wasn’t clear to me in the UI, had to Google. I ended up getting the hotkey from an obscure, off-Figma site. Might be some low-hanging-fruit UX spice? thx!!
It would ne nice to avoid showing plenty of options for the font choices if a project only uses one or n fonts. Ideally, we should be able to enter a few fonts, like in the declared font families in HTML. This could restrict the number of options shown in text options to avoid having to change the font at every font style creation. It would also ensure more safety for the consistency of the projects.
Please add all supported HTML ordered list types in Figma text options: a for lowercase letters A for uppercase letters i for lowercase Roman numerals I for uppercase Roman numerals 1 for numbers (default)
be more like lucid chart. This is painful.
Is there an option to restrict WHO can invite others to collaborate in an organization? OR Is there an option to completely restrict someone outside an organization to access a file, even if he is invited by someone within ? (Admin pains) Suggestion 1 : Some options for admin to restrict/allow others to invite others. Suggestion 2 : Some option to restrict organization level files from outside access (even with invite) Suggestion 3 : A new “FILE_SHARE” Webhook to catch the file share event and do some workarounds to avoid this problem.
I want to be able to set the thickness of each stroke individually like sketch
In reality, working on a large product this way is quite inconvenient, as multiple tasks affecting the same page can be worked on simultaneously. In the end, only the first branch merges cleanly, and when merging the other branches, their changes are often overwritten by the main file. Could you perhaps allow for selective merging of changes from the main file when merging a branch?
Hi, I m a UX researcher and my colleagues and I really love FigJam. It’s doing almost everything Miro does, except for Grid/table which we heavily use for all sorts of things (user journeys, heatmaps, comparison tables …). We would love it if a similar feature in FigJam was there because it would allow us to centralise design and research whiteboard all in Figma (which means less admin in linking boards and less fees for our team). A very basic grid tool would do, really just a table that allows to add and align images and texts in cells. Cheers
When using the touchbar on Macbooks or the on-screen keyboard, the word suggestions (i.e) auto-correct always append the full word on the end of the incomplete word, instead of replacing what you’ve typed so far. This is particularly useful on interactive touchscreens, or for those with motor impairments.
Using Alt + CMD + C should copy links to assigned Variables, instead of just the raw values. This would really help tidy up files quickly & create consistency. It pastes the correct numbers, just doesn’t link them to the variables for Auto layout. I’m quite new to using variables so please do let me know if this would be a terrible thing!
Greetings, is there a way for a Figma/FigJam author to toggle accessibility features on or must the end user do so? I found this guidance: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/14477051168791-Use-FigJam-with-a-screen-reader It lays out these steps that the user must perform: Open the quick actions menu by pressing ⌘Command / or ⌘Command P on a Mac or Control / and Control P on Windows. Type “Accessibility settings” and press Return / Enter. Can the author ensure that accessibility is on by default? Or is the end user the only one who can turn accessibility on?
Create separate sections for projects vs pages or nest the starred pages within the project sections so that it’s better organized. Pages and projects used to be separated but now with the new drafts functionality they are all lumped together. This makes it hard to find what I’m looking for.
Create Figma link type, so Figma desktop app would automatically open if it is installed on a computer. Both for design and prototypes.
Currently, it seems that Figma attempts to increase the number of dashes around curves even if you specify a gap size. When I say “3px” in the gap size, I would love for there to be an even 3px between all dashes.
Id love to able to have some shortcuts for things like fill, its so distracting to have to go to the side panel all the time, it would save time to have something under right click or a modifier click which has some under mouse cursor object selection controls, or a menu of controls which are customisable which appear next to the mouse cursor, blender does this really well
Right now when I move the main components between files I lose all connection to the instance. The only solution to this right now is to relink all manually or use a plugin (Master by Gleb). We need solutions to do it without losing all connections.
It’d be nice if we could copy multiple styles simultaneously, such as fill, stroke, and effects, from one element to another, overriding the applied style of the destination element. Currently, we are only allowed to copy styles individually, which takes up a lot of time and effort, and doesn’t allow for overrides.
Hi, Because of short Commings in FIGMA, we would like to use annotations or grid styles, to show advance layout alignments being applied to containers visually. We don’t want to see Grid Styles displaying over all our nice components making things look horrible. So we like to flip between a set of parameterized variables, setting the grid colors all to full transparent. Then the other things would be to look at better support for confining grids to specific sections of a page, like the bottom left corner, were show mini page, with layout. Sadly, one needs to specify a container positions into which grid styles needs to render. So another level of abstraction, put grid styles into grid containers, which be positioned as annotations on objects. They don’t exist for exports, just visual clues. That have a design layer or label that every item can belong to, that turn on or off different assisting layers for designs. Kind Regards, Wesley Oliver
I’m a freelancer with multiple clients and would love a way to toggle between clients so I’m not seeing them all in one place at the top when I work – goal is to organize and improve focus. In this version of the app, the tabs would be for one client rather than a mix. A nice reference is Arc and how one can have ‘spaces’
I’ve been experiencing Figma prototype mode and i had an issue. when i open present mode to view my prototype, top of the the header of the designed website goes under the macbook notch. so I’ve been thinking adding a realtime status bar (Like realtime clock) thing to the prototypes would fix this problem and adds that realism to the present mode.
Hello, When I link many text boxes to one string variable, I want to see how many text boxes and which texts are linked to the one string variable. When I used “Find” function with a variable name, there is no result. Please add the variable name category in Find function. Thanks.
Right now, the behavior for search for assets works different depending on where in the interface you are. When I search using the Assets tab, it does not search for any “contains”. You need to type in the name of the asset from the start. However, when you search in the swap instance popup, it does do a “contains” search. I find this discrepancy insane, and it hinders my workflow greatly. I use a workaround where I just drag in an asset and then use the swap instance search to look for the actual asset I want.
