Hide Tabs in Edit Mode

Sorry for the frustration!

After receiving negative feedback about not being able to see tabs in full screen mode, we made a change to the feature. You’re no longer able to hide tabs while designing, but while presenting you have the option to hide or show tabs. When hovering towards the top of your screen, select View then you’ll see an option to check or uncheck “Always Show Tabs When Presenting”.

I’m very upset about this too. Why did you decide to remove this cool feature instead of just turning it off by default? 🙁🤔

Why not just make it configurable? Why can’t people who hate it turn it off?

Figma is for experts right? People who end up using Figma definitely can figure out how to turn it on/off. 😕

@dvaliao can I make a feature request to have this back, but configurable for users who want it/don’t.

Bring this back, please. This could be a toggle for users who to turn this on.

I wish to have this feature back, as an opt-in feature.

My Usecase:
I would like to have full screen real-estate. For example, take artboard size for desktop apps (1400x900), when viewed @100% some portion of the screen are cropped when tab are in place. Since on the previous version of figma desktop app, there aren’t any way to hide the tabs so, I stayed with the browser for designing UI.

After finding this feature on desktop app, I started using it.
I even created a shortcut (⌘ + `) to show and hide tabs on fullscreen.

I think the possible reason for the backlash form most of the people is because, this feature is not being an opt-in feature.

I hope figma team comes up with a way to hide tabs on desktop app.

Exactly the same problem for me.

Why has there been no option for this? It’s a joke that they don’t give us back the option to hide the tabs when in full screen. It’s why I still have to use Edge (with some scripts) to do this. And it’ll probably never be an option now that Adobe have bought it

Would be great if this were a setting you could toggle versus being enforced.

Mind boggling how Figma has not provided ability to hide tabs while in Edit (i.e., focus) mode. Now with the new UI panels the canvas is now even more cluttered (e.g., hide left panel just makes it smaller). Editing is the primary mode of Figma, or did the Product/Program team forget that? 🤦‍♂️

A noisy canvas is distracting—full stop.
