Figma has had dark mode since forever, and it's honestly wild that FigJam still forces us into a bright white canvas. I know the sticky notes have colors, but here's the thing:

  1. Eye strain during long workshops - We run 2-3 hour brainstorming sessions and that white canvas is brutal
  2. Consistency with the rest of our workflow - We jump between Figma (dark) and FigJam (bright) constantly
  3. Late night collaboration - Distributed teams mean someone's always working evening hours
  4. Accessibility concerns - Some folks on our team have light sensitivity

The irony isn't lost on me that we use FigJam to design products with dark modes... in a tool that doesn't have one. 🙃

Quick note on browser extensions and unofficial plugins:

Before anyone suggests it - yes, I'm aware there are browser extensions and third-party plugins that claim to add dark mode to FigJam. I've tested several. Here's why they're not a real solution:

Technical issues:

  • They break color accuracy and make screenshots unusable
  • Sticky note colors get inverted or washed out
  • They interfere with FigJam's native UI elements inconsistently
  • Performance hits during real-time collaboration
  • They often conflict with other extensions or break with FigJam updates

Security concerns:

  • Many of these extensions require broad permissions to manipulate page content
  • You're trusting third-party code to access your design files and company data
  • Most aren't regularly maintained or security audited
  • Enterprise environments (rightfully) block unauthorized extensions

It's a band-aid, not a fix:

  • We shouldn't need to hack around basic accessibility features in 2025
  • Relying on community workarounds signals that native support isn't coming
  • Not everyone can or should have to install extensions to use a professional tool comfortably

A native, properly implemented dark mode would solve all of this. That's what we're asking for.
