Create one prototype across the pages in a file

the problem with current 1page-1protype method is - it loads too slow when you have hundreds of complex screens(pages) linked in 1 prototype inside 1 page. and also it takes minutes to make 1 tiny change.

How… was this not done years ago?

Requested this feature years ago.
This keeps being such a time consuming and frankly frustrating issue.

BUT, i did notice something:
If you link a master component to a frame on a page
and you then move the master component to a different page, the link will still be there,
even if the frame you are linking to is on a different page. 🤯

Not ideal as you can’t change anything, but it looks like someone is at least playing with the possibility of prototyping between pages?

+1 vote, it would greatly help me as I have a LOT of versions for the app we’re doing, it would be great to put them all up to date with an easy interaction without navigating each 20ish pages one by one

This lack of functionality forces our team to create two separate files—one master and one for the prototype—breaking the best practice of maintaining a single “source of truth.”

I’ve worked on a few projects where having a connected prototype across pages would have saved so much time, especially when trying to tweak designs and keep everything aligned across screens. If Figma added a feature that allows you to connect the components and interactions seamlessly across pages, it would really set them apart from other platforms. The flexibility to work on a cohesive, interactive prototype that mirrors an actual website would be so useful! Plus, it would be great to be able to see how components interact from one page to another without having to jump between separate files. This would help avoid those annoying inconsistencies and make collaboration much smoother. I’m definitely on board with the idea!
