Viewing Annotations should NOT be a paid feature. They provide important context on designs such as tooltip content, interactivity, etc. It’s a great feature that is far more efficient than adding on-page notes.

Figma, pls do this…being able to see annotations and measurements shouldn’t be a paid feature…

Pls enable users with view access to see annotations, otherwise it’s really pointless to have this feature.

Thank you

+1 to all comments and inquiries around updates on this..?

The Value: > The Figma annotations feature is fantastic for my daily workflow. The ability to anchor notes directly to specific components (or nested items) provides incredible clarity for my team.

The Problem: > However, this feature loses its value because users on free/viewer seats cannot see the annotations. Many of our stakeholders (PMs, devs, QA) don't need edit access to warrant a paid seat, but they do need to see the contextual details and documentation tied to the designs.

The Impact & Workaround: > Because of this permission limitation, I am forced to abandon the native feature and use a manual workaround: dropping custom annotation components next to the UI. This:

  • Wastes time and slows down my workflow.

  • Clutters the canvas and takes up valuable file space.

  • Creates visual chaos, making it difficult for stakeholders to identify exactly which part of the design the note refers to.

The Ask: > Please update the permission model so that free/viewer accounts can view native annotations!

+1 for this.

However since it’s left behind for a year without any response from the team I suppose Figma would not go for user friendliness, but keep to monetize each feature as much as they could.

The stereotypes does not come from thin air. The true american “business” experience we have here!
