UI3 Feedback

  1. What I can’t stand the most is that the panels of the new UI can’t be attached to the edges. They leave some gaps, wasting the space to display the main design and operation area. And visually, these gaps are also distracting my attention.
  2. The toolbar at the bottom also interferes with the main operation space, especially if its color is the same as my design draft. By the way, is it just for the convenience of novices to move it from the top to the bottom? If someone who uses Figma more frequently, he will use shortcuts instead of mouse clicks to trigger these functions.
So I hope that adjustments can be made in time in the official version of UI3, otherwise these redesign will seem like a subjective conjecture of someone who doesn’t use Figma much.

Hey everyone,

Just checked out the design and overall flow—great start! A few points of constructive feedback that might help refine things:

  1. User Onboarding Flow: Right now, the entry point seems a bit abrupt. Consider adding a smoother onboarding sequence (like a short tutorial or hint tooltips) to guide new users, especially if this is for a game or interactive platform.

  2. Visual Hierarchy: Some of the CTAs are blending into the background. You might want to experiment with contrast and button size to direct user attention better.

  3. Consistency in UI Elements: A few button styles and icon placements feel inconsistent across different screens. Creating a unified component library in Figma could save time and boost visual coherence.

  4. Performance-Oriented Design: If the project leans into AI-based interactivity or game logic, optimizing for responsiveness and scalability will matter a lot in the final product.

Speaking of which, if you're working on AI game development, I highly recommend checking out this team: Magic Factory. They specialize in AI-driven app and game solutions, and their integration of AI into gameplay mechanics is pretty solid—worth a look if you're planning to scale or need backend AI support.

Would love to see the next iteration. Keep building!

I find the amount of clicks very annoying. It feels like more work to get stuff done.
The icons are so pale that it’s hard to see and the layout feels cluttered.

The way the right design panel has been laid out is so unintuitive and takes up so much more space for no benefit.

the Autolayout and width and height have split up things in what seems like a totally arbitrary way

The floating tool bar as everyone has mentioned feels like it is in the middle of the design area. Another insane choice.

Hiding the publish button: Why? there is enough space that is being wasted. Also the old figma support advised splitting out bigger projects into multiple figma files so now I need to constantly publish updates and now it takes two 3 clicks.

I had to switch back just because its harder to work with the new one.

Alright. I’ve forced myself into UI3, and after the initial frustration of adjusting to where my most commonly used things now live, it’s not getting in my way as much, at least as far as design goes.

I haven’t done any heavy prototyping with it yet, so I don’t know how it feels through that experience, except for the create component buttons. I absolutely loathe where they are now, especially the create component set button. For something used so often for prototyping, it’s a little ridiculous they’re shoved into the proverbial back of the cupboard.

The floating toolbar doesn’t bother me so much, but I definitely prefer the toolbar location and controls from Ui2.

Diving a bit more into the nitty gritty of UI3 and here’s something (I daresay vital) I miss that I cannot find: the “create text property” when you have text selected in a component (UI2 shown below.)

Anyone know where they banished this one to?

Ahh, the obscure little “plus” button under THAT button.

Thank you.

Why is it mandatory to switch? Let us choose to keep old UI.

I believe that instead of forcing a transition to a completely updated and ambiguous interface that raises a lot of questions, the team should have focused on technical shortcomings. For example, unreasonable overloading of RAM, which sometimes limits the work.😠

Figma now for me is not intuitive at all. Earlier on the right menu the elements were more aligned to workflow. Now I start with layout, then search for corners which are separated from this part but, to be realistic are it’s relevant part.

I really pissed off when I couldn’t find grid settings by 3 minutes of staring at the navigation. Logically, I searched it around apearance and layout settings, finally.. found it under selection colors part. Seriously, Figma? Who is designing any screen with colors before settings layout, grids and margins (by the way… where are margins now?)

LAYOUT for me means, that when I want to change anything about selected area layout I will find there, not 4 sections lower.

The minimalism and mess bigger than on my desk, here are so overwhelming that only thing I am currently thinking about is minimalize my work in figma, instead of searching for usually used tools.

Why are you forcing this through and dismantling the previous UI that no one complained about? How much feedback have you received saying they are so glad that everything has been moved around and that they now have 56px back to the very top of their canvas? (Which by the way is where no one is ever looking at their designs)

The majority in Figma are probably too young but this reminds me of “New Coke” that was pushed out though no one was ever asking for it. Never tried “New Coke”? Just to spell it out — it’s cause “Classic” was a thousand times more favored.

I think up until ‘UI3’ Figma for the most part have been receptive to their customers’ feedback and requests.

Tool Bar now on the bottom for what again? It was so much better before and our eyes had less to travel whenever needed. Plus now ‘Actions menu’ (Command + / or Command + K) also forces me to look down away from where my eyes are almost always at.

One of the shortcuts I used the most was ‘K’ to get to scale and then a single tab to get to width value. Now I could either tab through 38 times! to do the same, take my mouse and select it manually, or with time hopefully force myself to form a new muscle memory and use ‘Shift+Tab’ instead —except I would need to ‘Shift+Tab’ not just once but 3 times. So what use to take 2 key strokes now takes 6 at minimum (‘k’ + ‘Shift’+’Tab’+ another 3x ‘Shift+Tabs’) and a whopping 39 keystrokes at maximum! Or use the mouse which is what shortcuts were meant to avoid.

Old UI is now broken but layout made it easier to use

Hi Figma! Your update is as awful as can be imagined!
It's cheesy, unpleasant to look at, and completely uncomfortable to use. Thank you, it has become simply impossible to work. I hope you read this and realize you made a mistake. Bring back the ability to use the previous version of the interface, because it's just a fucking horror, not an interface!
