UI3 Feedback

100% with you, especially floating menus above working space … this has to be the WORST UI practice ever. I hope they remove it or give us an option to keep the classic UI.

I want completely go back to the old UI. I don’t see anything that was wrong with that, or required updates. It works – and that is all I matter. Figma automatically tries to get me to UI3, but I revert to UI 2 manually. But what I can’t do – is to revert the tabs bar. Now it has very low contrast and I just can’ see what is written there. Also it takes too much time to identify what file is Figma design, and what is Figma Jam – as now all files look completely the same. Yes, there is different grey icon – but at the end – all icons are grey.

I cannot believe how inconvienent they changed Figma. For example I always use the “Hug Text”, the ↔ icon like this, now it’s used for a different purpose called “fit container”. I don’ t know what to say, how could they make such a basic mistake

Agreed. I switched back to the classic UI, it’s much simpler and easier to use.

in the browser, I just use the zoom option - the whole UI is fully scalable.

I’m sure there must be some way to adjust the UI size in the desktop version too?

I just enabled the new UI to see where it’s at, and to be fair, let’s acknowledge that they have already made drastic changes since this thread started: the floating side bars are gone, the rulers are back in place - these are not small changes.

The floating toolbar at the bottom, meh, I like where it was before - but it’s definitely not a deal breaker, and it does conserve some vertical space that was just empty before.

It does seem like the whole redesign is slowly circulating back to the original design though. The team might ought to question the decision of doing a redesign in the first place.

I don’t think users ever complained of any major issues with the old design? What design problem were they trying to solve? Best guess, “looking new” - unfortunately, that’s not a design problem motivated by anything the users care about. 🫠

It’s disappointing that Figma is losing its distinctive identity with the new UI3. I remember the first time I opened this program – I was impressed by its visually clean UI and minimalism, even though behind the minimalism were the program’s vast capabilities. The program stood out for its simplicity, logical UX, and at the same time a seemingly simple, but very functional UI.

Having the component options at the top in the right panel makes every other section jump in a completely random way. It’s the section that has the most variation in height - and not even present if you don’t select a component.

This jumping prevents me from using the UI3.
