I’m having a hard time finding a solution for the specific problem. And it’s about the Figma’s present mode. Both in Design document and Slides have the same problem.

How is it happening? So, I have my presentation in Figma Design document file type. Once i finished my presentation in Figma. And I want test it in present mode, because I made some animations and moving components. I see that every slide is moving and all the components are moving, except on problem.

I’m in the first starting page, I clicked my right arrow button on my mac then all of a sudden blue almost selection like outline appearing around my frame. And once i slightly move my mouse, it disappears again. And even if move my mouse out of the frame and even if I hard reset the Figma, even on web is the same problem. And this also happening in Figma slides. And it’s not “Show Outlines” function. Whatever AI is out there, I tried to find solution to this little annoying problem. I thought maybe it’s because of the update.

Hey @leowilsn, thanks for reaching out!

That sounds like a frustrating one to run into, especially while you're mid-testing on something with real animation work behind it. Appreciate the detail — appearing right after you press the right arrow, then clearing once you move your mouse — and good call already ruling out Show Outlines, since that's a different feature entirely.

For the Figma Design file, one setting worth checking is Show hints on click, found in the options menu while in presentation view. When it's enabled, Figma highlights clickable areas with a blue bounding box. If your frame has a click interaction tied to it, that could explain the outline you're seeing. Try toggling it off and see if it still shows up.

To help narrow down what's happening on the Figma Slides side as well, does this happen in a brand new Figma Design or Figma Slides file with no animations or interactions, or only in this specific presentation?

You can find more on presentation view settings in our guide to Play your prototypes.

Let us know what you find and we'll keep digging with you from there!

Hey @Gayani_S thanks for taking your time answering my question.

I actually forgot to mention about Show hints on click is also wasn’t the solution. And yes, it’s happening in Figma Design and Figma Slides. It’s happening across my figma files. And also worth mentioning this small detail: I have this weird thing happening to all of my URL attached texts. It almost has this hint like thing on it too. Here you can see the image attached.

I don’t know if it’s a bug or what, but it also started showing up when I first had this weird blue outline around the frames in present mode. It’s like they appeared at the same time.

And I also updated my Figma mac app to the latest version, to see if it gets fixed.

Thanks

@Gayani_S hi again.

I was just experimenting with prototype settings and found a bug. It’s was not about some setting or a function was just turned on by accident. It was the trigger Click it was causing that blue outline in the frame to show up. I changed the trigger to key/gamepad go to the next slide. And I fixed it. Maybe devs are gonna fix it on the next updates hopefully!

Thanks again!

Hey @leowilsn! Glad you got to the bottom of this, and thanks for replying again with what you found!

That confirms what you discovered with @Gayani_S - you’re seeing our hotspot hint indicator, which highlights any element using a Click trigger in Present mode (part of the same "Show hints on click" feature). It only fires for that trigger type, which is why switching to Key/gamepad made it go away. There’s actually a Suggest a Feature post about it - you’re welcome to reply there and voice your support for changes to this particular behavior.

On the link-text hint you mentioned - did that also go away when you switched to Key/gamepad triggers? if that pops up again, a quick screen recording would help us confirm whether it's the same hotspot system reacting to the link object. Otherwise, glad this is sorted!

Hey @adamsmasher thanks for reaching out)

Yeah, but I remember before updating to latest versions, even “Show hints on click” feature was on, I didn’t had this issue. But now after several updates, it appeared. If back then it was not firing up click trigger type but now it does, then why did devs added that feature? It doesn’t make sense at all.

On the link-text hint, also disappeared after switching trigger type to Key/gamepad.

Ok, thanks for the additional info, @leowilsn. It sounds like you might be using the desktop app, right? Could you let me know if that’s the case, and then the following info:

  • Desktop app version
  • Operating system and version
  • Do you see this in a web browser as well, or just the desktop app (both the outline and the link text issue)?
