Hi everyone,

I am having a similar issue. The embedded video will play in preview but stays frozen when rendered as an MP4. It stays frozen on the first frame as described by other users in the forum.

Same issue. We can drag and drop in mp4 videos into the canvas and frame and we can see them play, but they don’t play (remain static) once the Figma Motion file is exported. Even in the preview phase right before export, any video files in the frame don’t play.

A screen recording showing the behavior, if possible
A link to the impacted file, and invite support-share@figma.com with “Can View” access (this won’t impact your billing and will allow us to reproduce the issue and investigate further with Engineering).

Yes, absolutely. I already have the screen recording showing the issue, as well as the exported MP4 where the problem is visible. My return include both files, along with the Figma file link shared with View access to support-share@figma.com.

For context, the issue is reproducible on my side: the Motion animation works, but the embedded video stays frozen on its first frame both in the Motion preview and in the exported MP4. I tested the video both as a background fill and as a separate layer/object What is Jenny Mod, and the result is the same.

Common causes include using a static image instead of the actual video asset, placing the video inside a component with unsupported properties, or having timeline settings that prevent playback.

Our Engineering team has rolled out a fix for this - could you please close any active export tabs and try exporting again?
