Unable to Verify for Education Plan

Hey ​@pie2159827 , we recommend clearing your browser cache and making sure you’re not connected to a VPN while going through the verification process. Please also ensure you’re using your school-issued email address (not a personal or Gmail account).

If you’re prompted to submit documentation, make sure it includes your full name, university name, and your current term dates.

As mentioned in your message, we’re not able to manually review or update verification statuses on our end. For further assistance with the verification process, please reach out directly to SheerID, as they handle student status verification. Contacting them as soon as possible can also help avoid being locked out again.

Hello Figma Support Team,

I’m writing regarding an issue with my Figma Education plan.

When I attempt to verify my student status, Figma shows that the education offer has already been redeemed. However, my current team is not recognized as an Education team, and I’m repeatedly asked to verify my student email again in order to edit files.

I contacted SheerID for support, but they’ve confirmed that my verification attempts are locked (“Verification limit exceeded”) and that they’re unable to reopen or assist further. As a result, I’m unable to re-verify through SheerID.

It seems that my education entitlement already exists but is not attached to my current team.

Hey ​@bhumee — thanks for following up here and for sharing those details. I’m sorry you’ve been running into this as well.

I checked on your request and can confirm there’s an open case with our Education Team (case: 1665796), currently flagged as high priority. I’ve added the context from your post — including the SheerID lock and screenshots — so the team has the full picture as they review how your education status is applied.

Depending on timing, an update may not come through until the regular work week resumes, but the team has what they need to investigate next steps.

Hi Figma Education Team,

I am writing to kindly request your help with reactivating my Figma Education Plan.

Recently, I noticed that although I am still able to log in to my Figma account, my Education Plan appears to be locked. This happened because I was travelling for work over the past period and did not log in to or actively use my Figma account for quite some time.

I would like to clarify that my employment and academic affiliation have not changed, and I am still with the same institution as before. I would very much like to continue using Figma under the Education Plan for my academic and research-related work.

Could you please help me review my account status and re-enable my Education Plan if possible ([redacted by forum admin/moderator to remove PII]) ?  I would be very grateful for your assistance.

I checked on our end and it looks like your account was previously verified under a higher education status, but the required re-verification was not completed by September 29, 2025. If your Education team is currently locked, this is likely the reason.

If you decide to reverify your education status, please note that Figma isn’t able to assist directly with the verification process. You’ll need to complete the verification through SheerID. Thank you for providing the verification links and guidance in your previous email.

I have followed the steps and clicked on the links you sent. However, upon reaching the final step of the verification process, the system displayed an error message stating that the “Education plan is not supported in your region.” For your reference, I am currently located in China. 

Could you please advise on how to proceed? I am ready to provide any additional verification documents if needed.

Please note that Figma for Education is only available in select regions and may not be accessible everywhere. Unfortunately, we’re not able to assist further with this limitation.

That said, you should still be able to unlock your previous Education team by following the guide I shared earlier.

Dear Figma,

I am currently enrolled as a student in a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Computer Science and Engineering program.

My institution does not provide an official student email address. I would like to request access to the option to verify my student status by uploading my valid college-issued student ID card instead of email-based verification.

Kindly let me know how I can proceed with ID-based verification or enable the document upload option for my account.

Hey ​@Ankt Sharma , Celine from Figma here! I am sorry to hear you’re having issues with your verification, but Figma for Edu cannot verify your account. All verifications with have to go through SheerID. 
Figma only requires school email addresses for schools that issue them to staff and students. If that is not the case for your school, please reach out to SheerID directly to explain your case.

I’m having the same problem. I used my school email to create my account and made sure all my documents clearly show my name, institution, and current term dates, and meet the eligibility criteria. I’m not sure what went wrong. I tried verifying multiple times until I reached the “Verification Limit Exceeded” page, including deleting my account and starting over, but none of the attempts worked. I also uploaded different documents such as my tuition receipt, enrolment verification letter, and transcript. I contacted SheerID twice about this, but both times they replied saying they couldn’t help with the verification process. I also emailed Figma Education 4 days ago and haven’t received a response yet.

 

I would really appreciate any help with this issue, as I have assignments to complete for my classes and haven’t been able to do so without access.
