Unable to Verify for Education Plan

I have tried verifying 10+ times, I have contacted SheerID and they say the image of my government ID is not “Clear” I have tried uploading images of it as clear as possible, I have uploaded digital copy of the id straight from government portal and still that is not “clear’’

I have run out of verification limit twice, The only prerequisite of being a student is College mail and college ID SheerID cant even verify that. education@figma.com was of no help either. Said that only sheerID can help.

Hi everyone, I completely understand how frustrating this must feel! 

Since the verification process is fully handled by our partner, SheerID, I unfortunately don’t have the ability to step in directly. That said, I’ll be making sure your feedback and the issues you’ve described are passed along internally to our teams, so they’re aware of this.

In the meantime, if your ticket has been closed, the best step is to open a new one with SheerID so they can take another look. I know that’s not ideal, especially given how many attempts you’ve already made, but it’s currently the only way forward for verification.

I really appreciate your patience here, and I’m sorry I can’t resolve this directly for you. But please know your feedback is being seen and passed to the team internally.

The student verification process is fully handled by our partner, SheerID, which means they’re the only ones who can reset your verification attempts and review why the uploads aren’t being accepted. The best next step is to reach out to their support team again so they can take a closer look and reset your limit.

 

That said, I don’t want to leave you stuck. I’m also checking in with our team internally to see if there’s anything else we can do on our side. I’ll update you here as soon as I hear back.

Hey ​@Saksham Parag Agarwal, I’ve got the update from the team that if SheerID is rejecting it, we don't really have the authority to overturn their evaluation. 

I am sorry to direct you again to SheerID support to work with them on your issue. I’d maybe recommend to ask for clear instruction how a ID should be uploaded, so you can follow it. 

 

Again I am really sorry we’re not able to help with this, but I really hope this gets resolved as soon as possible for you!

Hi, can you please do the same for me? Whenever I try it says, “Error: We had trouble validating your ID”, when I try to upload my driver’s license. The images of the front and back of my license are very clear and legible. I don’t know what else to do. I may have run out of verification attempts for a second time. I am currently working on a group project in grad school, so I cannot lose access, but it says I must renew my Education plan by May 29th.

Please help.

This is what SheerID said. How is this helpful? I have done as clear as I can and ofcourse I have put two separate images for front & back. It is definitely some technical error or maybe the service they are using (Regula) isnt working right on some Indian IDs (because most of my classmates and people I know are facing the same issues)

Same thing is happening to me as well. I attempted to re-verify my Figma student account, but the system is now showing “Verification limit exceeded.”

I reached out to SheerID via email, but their response was:

“We were unable to process your verification request. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.”

I am not able to re-verify my student plan otherwise, and this needs to be resolved before 29 September. Since SheerID has not provided any assistance, I would greatly appreciate your ​@Gayani_S  urgent support in resolving this matter.

I havent been able to verify my account.I attempted to re-verify my Figma student account, but the system is now showing “Verification limit exceeded.” and it’s auto-rejecting my Id everytime I upload.

 

No contact has been made from SheerId side for manual verification. I have a college bonafide that proves I am a student. I dont know what else to do since only 1 days are left. No help has been provided from SheerId’s side since the very beginning. They just conveniently keep closing the tickets permanently.

Please look into this and do the needful.

This is quite frustrating as a user.
And contacting SheerId directly is leading to absolutely nothing. I have been trying this since the last 15 days and only 1 day is left now. I don’t know what to do.

Please help with resolving this before 29 September 2025

Unacceptable response from SheerID, and since Figma requires verification of an educational version, it would seem that you should be able to help us resolve this issue. We won’t remember SheerId, but Figma will leave a bad user experience!

I completely understand how frustrating this experience has been, and we hear you. As mentioned by Gayani and others in the community, if you’ve already reached out to SheerID support, the next best course or action is reaching out again or replying to SheerID Verification Support and CC’ing a copy to education@figma.com.

From there, our Education team will be able to help guide the verification process, as needed.

I completely understand how frustrating this must be, but Figma support is not involved in the EDU verification process. You’ll want to reach out to SheerID here: https://support.sheerid.com/en-US/help-center/contact-form

Our Education team is not able to manually review documents or change review status.
 
To help complete your verification, please be sure any documentation you submit includes:
- Your full name
- Your university’s name
- Current term dates

In many cases, unofficial transcripts work well for students. If you don’t have access to that, any official university-issued document that includes the details above should also work. Please also try looping in the Education team: Education@figma.com for help with verification limits and to help guide the process along the way.

I’ve been going through the issue for weeks. In my case, I’ve already contacted SheerID multiple times and even provided my student ID and class schedule as proof, but they keep redirecting me back to Figma, saying they can’t approve verifications from non–school-issued emails.

The problem is, I don’t have access to my school email due to a technical issue at my university, and You and also the forum here advised that such cases should be handled directly with SheerID.

Still, neither side is taking responsibility - SheerID says it’s Figma’s policy, while Figma says they can’t manually review documents.

 

It’s really unfair because some of my classmates have been verified with Gmail accounts recently under the same conditions, so it’s clearly possible when the documentation is valid. I’ve attached my proof of enrollment and class schedule and just need this resolved so I don’t lose access to my academic work.

 

This loop between Figma and SheerID needs to be fixed — students shouldn’t be penalized for administrative email issues. I truly hope someone from the Figma Education team can escalate this or at least provide a clear, working solution.

UPDATE: Our Figma for Education team has reaffirmed with SheerID that schools that do not issue student or faculty emails are still eligible for our offer .

Since we partner with SheerID for all higher-education verification, we recommend trying to verify again through their platform. If you have any questions about your school's domain eligibility, their product support team will be the best contact to help clarify next steps.

HI,

I too am frustrated. I switched to Figma when Jamboard wound down, after exploring several other platforms. Last year, I had a free educational account. This year, I have submitted my form mutliple times before September 29, but to no avail. I went through Sheer ID and they said that I did not have any requests for a free account??  At one point someone from Figma replied that my account was verified. IDK. I only have one account, so it is the proper email. All of my intellectual property is now being “held hostage,” as I cannot edit it or access it to move it to a different platform. I spent hundreds of hours creating math lessons and I cannot edit. I teach in a high poverty public school system. Please help!!

Since you mentioned submitting the form multiple times before September 29th, can you please confirm how you were trying to verify your Education status?

As you were informed by the team via email, in August 2025, we introduced a new verification process for all users on Figma’s Education plan. Were you logged in with your edu email address and using this form? https://figma.com/education/apply

If so, if you ran into any error messages or issues, as instructed, you would then need to reach out to SheerID to troubleshoot directly with Sheer ID support here: https://support.sheerid.com/en-US/help-center/contact-form

I do not speak Spanish, so I hope it s ok that I reply in English. I can see that you’ve written into the Education team several times; most recently on ticket #1608542. (Please be aware that multiple tickets are commonly merged by the support team, which in turn, can push your ticket to the back of the queue.)

As I mentioned above, in August, we updated our verification process. You can read more about it here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041061214-Figma-for-Education#updates
 
The easiest way to verify is by using an edu email address, and please note that Figma is not able to manually verify if you provide documents. All applications need to be approved by Sheer ID.
 
That said, I’ve escalated your most recent ticket on your behalf to see if our education team can offer any assistance.

Hola gracias por tu ayuda y tu tiempo, sinceramente me respondieron desde el email de education@figma.com, pero me dirigieron a comunicarme con Sheer Id, que anteriormente ya me había comunicado con ellos y me re dirigieron a el mail de figma education, es una pena que no me den una solución y se pasen el problema de uno a otro sin brindarme una solución.

Yo nunca tuve cuenta o mail educativo brindado por la universidad, y tuve acceso a una cuenta de Figma educativa desde mi correo personal. No entiendo por que no podrían nuevamente brindarme este beneficio, si les envió constancia de que aun soy estudiante (les envide tanto un certificado de alumno regular, como la cuota de este mes)

Thank you @djv for your reply. I just reached out to the education@figma.com this morning for support. I reverified using the form linked with the message to reverify by September 29th that is on all of my Figjams and went to the link for K-12. I was using the email associated with the account. There are two teams associated with the account even though I am the onl person accessing it. The team with the files is locked. The other one appears to be unlocked. I do not know how to merge the two teams and the files to the one that is unlocked. I appreciate your help!
