Unable to submit for Figma Education reverification

Hello! I have been part of a Figma for Education plan at various points while I have been in school, using the Figma account that I have always used (which is attached to my gmail address). I, in fact, am currently on a Figma for Education plan using this account. However, when I go to try to re-verify (because I’m still in school) it will not allow me to even apply with my current account because it is not tied to my institutional e-mail. All my work is attached to my current Figma account and I don’t want to set up a new one with my university login just to re-verify; this especially makes no sense to me as I currently have access to an Education plan using my gmail address. Talking to the stupid AI assistant obviously did nothing. Is there genuinely no way to extend the education status that *legitimately exists on my current account* without creating an entirely new one?

Hi @Heather Gunn, welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for bringing this up. With the updates to the verification process, a school-issued email address is now required. I'll share your experience with the appropriate team members and flag the disruption it's caused. For more on what's needed to verify your account, keep this resource handy — it has the most up-to-date details for higher education: Figma for Education → Verify your education status.

From your post, it looks like you can keep all your work in one place on your same account. That said, you'll need to update the email address to proceed with verification. Here's how: Manage email address or password. Since education status is tied to the email you verify with, switching to your school email is what lets the reverification go through under the current rules.

If you make the switch and still can't submit — or run into any issues with SheerID, let me know and I'll connect you with the Education team so they can look at your specific setup. 🙏🏻

Hi @Tom Reem ,
I am in the same situation as Heather, but my account IS tied to my educational email, and I was still denied a renewal with the exact same documentation I’ve submitted before. Your AI assistant denied submitting a ticket on my behalf for human verification for the sole reason that universities in my country do not use “.edu” as the extension - rather, they use “student.[university].[country extension]”. Can you please let the Educational team know to fix that oversight and connect me to someone to review my case?
