Trouble exporting videos from Figma Buzz

Hey there 👋

My company is currently using Figma for content creation, and we were really excited to see that we could finally export videos directly from Figma Buzz.

The problem is… exports seem to work randomly. Sometimes the file exports without an issue, but most of the time we end up waiting endlessly for the export to process, and nothing happens.

It feels like we might not be the only ones experiencing this. Has anyone else run into the same issue? And is there a workaround or solution that the Figma team could share with us?

Thanks a lot in advance 🙏

Hi everyone, Celine from Figma here. Thanks so much for flagging this.

I’ve checked on this internally:

@veza : good news, I can see in the backend that your case has been resolved! The MP4 export issue was tied to an underlying error that our Engineering team has since fixed, so you shouldn’t run into this again. If anything unexpected happens, please continue the conversation in your existing support ticket so the team can review your specific file.

@Silvana_fem : your issue also appears to be resolved. For visibility here, from what we’ve seen, exports can fail if the video upload hasn’t fully completed. If the preview doesn’t load, the export won’t work.

As a temporary solutions, we recommend:

  • After uploading a video, confirm that the preview loads successfully.
  • Avoid leaving the file before the upload fully completes.
If the preview doesn’t appear, the upload may not have finished correctly, which prevents export.

For anyone else still experiencing an issue, please submit a bug report via the  Support Hub / Click Start a chat / Type “Report a bug” / Include a direct URL to the file so we can investigate your specific case.
Please also share view access to the affected file with support-share@figma.com (our official Support account) so the team can take a closer look. You won’t be billed for this access.

Thanks again for reporting this, it really helps us track and resolve issues quickly!

Hi @Silvana_fem,

I understand you're experiencing issues with exporting videos from Figma Buzz — sometimes it works, but other times the export seems to hang indefinitely.

I tried to reproduce the issue on my end, but exports seem to be working as expected so far.

To help us better understand what might be going on, could you share a bit more information?

  • Does this happen only in the browser, only in the desktop app, or in both?

  • Is it happening in one specific file, or across multiple files?

Also, if you run into the issue again, it would be super helpful if you could share a short video recording of what you're seeing — ideally with the full Figma window visible.

That will help our team investigate more effectively.

Thanks,

Thank you for your quick reply!

The issue happens both in the browser (Safari and Chrome) and in the desktop app. It also occurs across multiple files. I usually try to select all my creatives and export them, but most of the time it just hangs. When that fails, I try exporting one by one, but that doesn’t work either. My coworker has the same issue on her laptop as well.

The main problem is the randomness: it rarely works, but right now, for example, I’ve been waiting 10 minutes on the desktop app and only one video has exported. Is it normal that it takes so long?

I can’t attach videos on this post, so here are screenshots showing the issue in Safari, Chrome, and the desktop app. At the time of writing, the export is still loading.

Thanks again for your help!

Update : it has been 30 minutes, and only one video was exported. The file is still trying to export the assets

Hi @Silvana_fem,

Thank you for the detailed follow-up — I really appreciate it.

I understand that the issue occurs both in Safari and Chrome, as well as in the Figma desktop app, and that it affects multiple files.
You've also noted that the export process hangs most of the time, even when trying to export assets one by one, and your colleague is experiencing the same issue on a different machine.

To help get this looked into more closely, I’ll go ahead and create a support ticket on your behalf using all of the information you’ve shared. This will allow our team to investigate the issue in more detail.

One of our specialists will reach out to you when they’re ready. You should receive an email about the new ticket shortly — it will be sent to the email address associated with your Figma account.

Thanks,

Same thing happens with me here on the desktop. I try to export the asset and it takes forever and usually do not export at all. Even with a very small video (1,4 mb). Thank you!

Try this → from desktop app, you can go to Help > Troubleshooting > Reset Figma and Restart

I have the same issue, the export takes too much time, I can only use if from the Browser, as we can’t download the app in our company. Is there any opportunity to resolve this issue?

KellyMcCarey

I am having the same issue. How to we figure out what the resolve for this is?

I’m experiencing the same issue. I had no problem exporting last week, but now the exact same files won’t export.

I’ve cleared the desktop app cache, cleared browser caches, restarted everything, and tried multiple browsers and computers - the problem still persists.

I have an urgent deadline to deliver assets to a client, and this is blocking me.

Hi Edward, were you able to resolve the issue?

Hi, I have the same problem as everyone else, I can't export any video, neither from the browser nor from the app. What can I do? I already tried restarting the app but it didn't work.

I submitted a ticket to Figma. Here is their response:

We’re currently investigating this MP4 issue further, and I’ve escalated your case to our engineering team so they can take a closer look. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as soon as I have any updates to share. In the meantime, we truly appreciate your patience while we work through this.

Critical Issue: Figma Buzz – Video Export Not Working / Extremely Slow Performance

Description:
We are experiencing recurring and significant issues with exporting videos using Figma Buzz. Last week the export function worked once (a single file test; I tried only once, 1 file, after seeing the response from Celine_ claiming that now the function works), but this week the export workflow is consistently unreliable and extremely slow.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Navigate to Media → Upload image or video
  2. Select and upload a video file under 100 MB
    • Note: After upload, the file does not appear under “Media” — only Unsplash content is visible
  3. Place the uploaded video on the canvas
  4. Confirm the video preview works (it does)
  5. Start exporting the video as MP4
    • Export initiated at 13:41
  6. The export completed at 13:51, and a message appeared: “1 file exported successfully”
  7. However, no save window appeared. The message disappeared, and no action buttons were available to start the download
  8. Only at 13:58 did the save window finally appear
    • Exported file size: 21.2 MB

Issues Observed:

  • Exporting a single ~20 MB file takes 17 minutes, which is unacceptably slow
  • In most cases, exporting fails silently:
    • No error message
    • No indication that the export failed or stalled
  • Uploaded media is not visible in the Media library
  • Overall behavior makes video export unreliable and unpredictable

Impact:
We are relying on Figma Buzz for video content in a Kiosk project within a large automotive company.
Due to the instability and performance issues, we currently cannot depend on the tool for production‑level work.

Expectation:

  • Stable, predictable export behavior
  • Download history or a clickable link to retrieve the exported file when the save dialog does not appear automatically
  • Reasonable export times (comparable tools such as Canva export similar content significantly faster)
  • Clear error messages when exports fail
  • Uploaded media should appear in the Media library consistently

Environment:

  • Figma Buzz (web)
  • Issue observed multiple times this week
  • File sizes always below 100 MB
