Hello,

I'm experiencing a rendering issue with screenshots in Figma that appeared recently without any changes to my settings.

Problem: When I place screenshots in my Figma file, they display with unwanted colored boxes overlaid on them in the editor view. However, these boxes do not appear when I preview the file on Mac or in any other view mode.

Environment:

Figma Desktop App on Mac
Issue started recently (no intentional setting changes made)

What I've tried:

Reloading the file
Restarting Figma
Changing color profiles—the colored boxes persist regardless of profile settings

Attachments:

Screenshot showing the problem (colored boxes visible)
Screenshot showing the expected result (without colored boxes)

I've attached two screenshots for reference—one showing the issue and one showing how it should appear. The problem occurs consistently when inserting images in Figma.

Thanks for sharing the workaround that resolved the issue for you.

For anyone else running into this, you may want to try what @shrekin shared:

I ran the command defaults delete com.apple.screencapture in the terminal, after which the files started saving as PNGs again, just like before, so they display correctly in Figma after pasting.

If the issue continues, please submit a bug report so the team can take a closer look at what’s happening in your specific setup. You can do this by:

Going to the Support Hub
Clicking Start a chat
Typing “Report a bug”

Please also include a link to the impacted file when submitting the report, and invite support-share@figma.com with “Can View” access (this won’t impact your billing and will allow us to reproduce the issue and investigate further with Engineering).

Let’s try to narrow this down a bit:

Could you check if the same issue happens in the browser? (Figma supports: Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox.)
Have you tried reinstalling the Desktop app?
Is this happening in one specific file, or across all files?
Is the colorblock around the image like a frame or does it seem to be part of the image?

- Yes, still happening in chrome.
Have you tried reinstalling the Desktop app?
- Yes, problem persists.

Is the colorblock around the image like a frame or does it seem to be part of the image?
- Yes, the frame is active on the image I uploaded. Sorry about that. The weird color is the large cyan block.

It would also really help if you could share one of the affected files with support-share@figma.com and grant “Can View” access. That way, the team can try to reproduce the issue on their end and investigate further with Engineering if needed.

Hi – I’m also seeing magenta and cyan blocks in my screenshots when I import them into Figma (and only in Figma).

Hey, I’m also struggling with these pink and cyan stripes in screenshots. The screenshot itself seems perfectly fine, it only happen when importing the screenshot to Figma.

To help narrow this down, a little more information would be really helpful:

Is this happening in the browser, the desktop app, or both?
If you duplicate the affected file, does the issue still happen in the duplicate?
Does it only happen in one specific file, or across multiple/all files?
Does it occur with different image formats as well (PNG, JPEG, etc.)?
If possible, would you be able to share a screen recording (for example via a Loom link) showing the behaviour?
