We have a Figma Professional workspace where the team owner is no longer with the company (for about 8 months now) The associated @company email address has been permanently deactivated and cannot be reactivated by IT.
We still have admin access and active billing, but we cannot reset the owner password because the email no longer exist. We’ve already reached out to Figma Support for assistance. Their recommendation was to upgrade to the Organization or Enterprise plan, but we cannot initiate an upgrade because the account is effectively orphaned under the former owner’s email. That also rules out transferring the studio to a new account (which is not ideal). Given this situation, what is the recommended path to reassign ownership when the owner email is permanently inaccessible?
For context:
- workspace contains 100+ projects
- 5 year design system
- canceling and rebuilding would be extremely disruptive.
Has anyone successfully resolved a similar edge case?
