I’ve lost access to my education account which holds all of my previous files. I thought I had linked everything to the account I’m currently on but it seems that no matter what I do, I cannot regain access to it nor the files.

Hi @AngelinaKristensen — welcome to Figma Forum, and I’m glad we connected here! Sorry to hear you’re having trouble accessing your account. Here are a few suggestions to help get this sorted as quickly as possible.

In many cases, when a school email is deactivated, email forwarding may be set up — if that’s the case for you, the easiest way back into your Figma account is to reset your password. Once logged in, you can update your email address in your account settings. For step-by-step instructions, please check out: Manage email address or password.

If that doesn’t solve the problem, you can ask our Product Support team to update the email address on your behalf. To move forward with that, please submit a ticket through this secure form and include:

  • the school email address linked to your student account
  • the new email address you want to use (please confirm it’s not already tied to another Figma account)
  • the names of your student team

After you submit your request, a team member will review it carefully and reach out if they need any more info to proceed.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions or concerns — I’m more than happy to take another look.

Hello, I am facing the same issue. I was on a student plan but i graduated so they deactivated my email. I need to retrieve those files as those files were really important. Is it possible to do that? I have lost all my academic work. I did backup by adding my personal email to those projects but still can't see them. The university email ID is [redacted by forum admin/moderator to remove PII] and my personal email is [redacted by forum admin/moderator to remove PII]

Hey @sanghita! I understand your urgency I’ve just left a response on your original post:

Please take a look when you have a moment, thank you!

Hello, I’m facing the same issue, I was on a student plan but when I left the school they deactivated my email. I need to retrieve those files as those files were really important. I need them for future use and learning.

Hey @EoDM — thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the difficulty retrieving your files. While I can’t share account-specific details here in this public space, I did look into this for you. It looks like a member of our Product Support team followed up earlier this week with next steps for recovering your files (case ID: 1498485). Could you check your inbox—and spam folder just in case—for their reply?

Also, do you know if your school set up email forwarding before deactivating your account? That can sometimes help with receiving our messages. If you don’t see anything or you’re still blocked, let me know and I’ll make sure this gets another look. 💯

They didn’t reach out to me, before deactivating. And I checked my spam and inbox, still haven’t received anything. I only got this message - “Dear EoDM,

Your account has been succesfully activated. We hope to see you soon on the forum.”.

Ah, thanks for clarifying, @EoDM — that likely explains why the earlier reply didn’t come through. I’ve opened a new case on your behalf with your updated email and flagged it for another review. Please keep an eye on your inbox for updates. For reference, your new case ID is: 1507065.

Ok thank you so much for your help, will be on the lookout.

Hi Angelina,

Since your school email was deactivated, you’ll likely need the school’s IT/admin to reactivate it or transfer your files. Also, contact the platform’s support with proof of ownership—they may help move your data to a new account.

Hey @EoDM — thanks again for hanging in there while this was sorted out. I’m circling back as I follow up on open conversations, and from what I can see, your file access issue got resolved. 🎉

If anything else pops up, don’t hesitate to drop a note here — we’ll be glad to help keep things moving.
