My files have disappeared - Logged into the same account as usual

Hi Figma community,

I am experiencing the same issue, I had created a file 4+ months ago. When logging back in I do not have edit access to the file

Additionally:

  • my previous files are gone
  • my drafts project are gone

I’m using the same email as before. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi ​@Bethany Chu - so sorry for the trouble! I split your response from this topic over to it’s own, so I could address you directly.

    Before we dig into your account specifically, I want to flag a recent update to how files are organized in Figma. This may explain some of the missing files you're seeing:

    Since you also mentioned missing drafts, I'd like to look into your account access as well. A few questions to help me investigate:

    1. How do you normally sign in? Via SSO (through your employer or a Google account), or with email and password?
    2. On August 10, it looks like there may have been an organization-level change to how you access your Figma account. Are you aware of any changes on your end around that time?
    3. For the files in question — are you the owner, or were you invited as an editor?
    4. Could you send direct links to a few files you no longer have access to? I can try some additional searching.
