You can connect the Figma MCP server in two ways:
- Remote MCP server (preferred): Connects directly to Figma’s hosted endpoint at
https://mcp.figma.com/mcp. You can learn how to install the remote MCP server. - Desktop MCP server: For this option, please make sure you have toggled to the Dev Mode, then check in the right panel, click ‘Enable MCP Server’.
The Desktop MCP server runs locally through the Figma desktop app. You can learn in this article how to install the desktop MCP server. The desktop MCP server is primarily for specific use cases for organizations and enterprises. For the broadest set of features, we recommend using the remote MCP server.

After spending hours searching, I finally found the solution. Here are the steps:
- Make sure Dev Mode is enabled (this requires the appropriate paid plan).
- Click the Figma logo in the top-left corner, then select Actions (or press Cmd + K).
- Type “enable”, and you should see the “Enable Desktop MCP Server” option.
- Select it manually to enable the server.
