I am facing the issue, please have a look into it as I have multiple projects going on my ID as the education plan is expiring on 29th September 2025.

Please do the needful.

@Utkarsh Kumar Hiya! Apologies, but it wasn’t clear on what you’re having issues with when trying to verify.

First, to cover all bases: can you confirm you’ve gone through the steps outlined on this page here? https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041061214-Figma-for-Education#verifyedu

If you’re still running into issues with your application, please reach out directly to SheerID for support as they manage Figma's Higher Education verification process. Thank you!

Done all the things but nothing working.

@Utkarsh Kumar Thanks for responding - I’m still not clear at what point you’re failing with verification. Can you confirm what errors you’re receiving?

If you’re still running into issues with your application, please reach out directly to SheerID for support as they manage Figma's Higher Education verification process. Due to higher volume of inquiries, it may take some time for them to respond, but

However, as of September 24th, Figma has extended a grace period for students in the process of reverifying their education status. You will not lose access to your account or files on September 29. To ensure ongoing access, please complete your reverification promptly by contacting SheerID above asap.

I had access to Figma Education via Coursera Google UX Design, but I cannot reverify because Coursera has no admin to confirm enrollment. Is there an alternative way to provide proof of enrollment or completion?

I am facing an issue with my EDU plan verification. Recently, I was asked to re-verify my education status, which I successfully completed. I received confirmation of approval both on the Figma platform (screenshot attached) and also directly from your verification partner SheerID.

Here are the details provided by SheerID:

  • Verified Email Address: biplobhosengraphics@gmail.com

  • Request ID: 68c469ad77be3c68585d77df

  • Date Verified: September 13, 2025

Despite the approval, I keep receiving emails asking me to re-verify my status, and when I try, it no longer allows me to re-apply. This is creating unnecessary confusion and limiting my ability to use the EDU plan smoothly.

Since SheerID confirmed my verification is valid and active, it seems the issue is on Figma’s side. Could you please look into my account and fix this problem so that I can continue using my EDU plan without interruptions?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,
Biplob Hosen

I'm having trouble verifying my government ID. I've tried multiple IDs and troubleshooting steps, but I keep getting an "unable to verify" error. Can you help me resolve this issue? I've checked my ID details and uploaded different document formats, but nothing seems to work.

If you need more information or docs from me, let me know. I'd appreciate your assistance in fixing this problem.

Thanks,

Hey Utkarsh, I’ve had a similar issue before. The fastest way is to submit a support request to Figma with your account details and explain the multiple projects. They usually respond pretty quickly and can verify your education plan before it expires.

This new verification process is broken. I’ve tried to verify as an educator with my faculty email address and credentials. It failed and I am getting the same message that I’ve had too many requests. I contacted SheerID to be shut down with

“Hello,

Thanks for contacting SheerID.

We were unable to process your verification request. While we can't offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please ensure all information submitted is accurate and meets the eligibility criteria for future attempts. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.”

So that is useless. How am I supposed to teach Figma to a class of students when I can’t verify my account? This has to get fixed or a least get better customer service.”

I am having the exact same issue.

I’ve been using and teaching Figma in my University class for the past 5 years. I have tried since early September to get verified. I took all the necessary steps through the verification process, but I can’t get verified. Now it’s telling me that I have exceeded my verification attempts. I have contacted SheerID *twice* and I get the same canned message in both cases from different SheerID representatives even after I have submitted my university credentials (ID, profile page on my department’s website)

We were unable to process your verification request. While we can't offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please ensure all information submitted is accurate and meets the eligibility criteria for future attempts. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.

There is no other way to get verified at this point since they have decided to close the ticket and is not willing to offer any further details! What am I supposed to do now?

My class of 72 students on “design methods” where I use Figma heavily has already started. I use Figma Slides for my lectures, FigJam for assignments, and Figma Design and Make for project work.

The verification process has been an intense source of stress for the past 2 weeks. The prospect of losing my educator license is unfathomable. What should my plan B be? Use Google Slides, Miro and Penpot?

Please help fix this issue.

Sheer ID itself is failing and support does not answer the ticket. Only says your ticket is now permanently closed.

Figma support, please improve

Hi all - I want to first acknowledge that the response I leave here will likely not be an ideal one; since SheerID is the designated and official verification service, they are the ones that would need to facilitate any issues with verification (including errors you receive with verification requests exceeded).

Due to high volume, you can expect a delay in response from them. Please know that I am hearing and understanding everyone’s frustrating and negative experience. I (along with the other moderators here) have no control in how the verification process runs, but we are doing our best to get you any updated instructions we receive on our end, and also relay the feedback we receive from you to other teams internally.

At this time, my recommendation would be to send an email to education@figma.com -- this is our education team directly, and they may be able to take over to help. However, I can’t guarantee the exact response time for them as well.

I’m sorry I can’t provide a better answer at the moment. We will announce any updates to the process, grace period, etc. to everyone as soon as we receive them. Thank you for your understanding.

Thankfully a wonderful person from education@figma.com reached out and was able to resolve my issue that SheerID wasn’t much help in resolving.

My issue was that I teach a study abroad in the summer (S Korea) and when I tried to verify, I was out of the country, not physically close to the institution I teach (Seattle) and that was causing the my verification to be denied and ultimately run out of attempts. This I only found out after the Figma support staff told me so. The support staff was able to reset my verification process, and I was able to verify without any issues now that I am back in Seattle.

Through this knowledge I was also able to get a student who is stranded in Korea (because his F-1 visa is being denied; that’s another story) to get verified and use Figma while attending my class remotely.

My advice to those educators having verification issues with SheerID is to email education@figma.com directly and sit tight. They’ll get to you.

I am sure Figma staff are getting overwhelmed with requests for help. I appreciate you all, and empathize with your situation having to deal with the fallout from this predicament that you didn’t create.
