Hello Figma Support Team,

I am a student currently trying to sign up for the Figma Education Plan using my NYU email account personal information redacted. However, the verification has not been successful.

I have already reached out to SheerID regarding this issue, but I haven’t received any response from them so far. Since I urgently need access to the Education Plan for my coursework, I wanted to ask if there is any way Figma could directly help me resolve this issue.

Could you please look into my case and let me know if there are additional steps I should take, or if you can assist me in verifying my eligibility?

This account is absolutely essential for my classwork, so I kindly ask for your urgent assistance in activating my Education Plan as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for your help and support.

Hi @Subeen Kim — welcome to Figma Forum, and I’m sorry to hear about the disruption with your coursework. For your privacy, I’ve removed personal details from your post. Verification is handled by SheerID, so I have limited visibility into the process. It can sometimes take a few days for them to review and confirm requests, and with the weekend there may be added delays.

I’ve raised your experience with the right folks on our side so it’s on their radar. If you don’t hear back from SheerID within the next few business days, please let me know how long it’s been since you first reached out and I’ll continue looking into it with you. In the meantime, you can also review this update for more context: Updates to our Figma Education plan.

I am also facing the same issue, please have a look into it as I have multiple projects going on my ID as the education plan is expiring on 29th September 2025.

I contacted SheerID on Monday and received the following response:

We were unable to verify your government ID based on the images provided. While we can't offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please submit clear, separate images of both the front and back of your ID. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.

However, since I have never submitted an incorrect photo of my ID(I uploaded my government issued ID and also NYU ID but both rejected), I followed up last Wednesday (Sep 17) to ask if they could reopen the ticket. As I did not receive any reply after Wednesday, I sent a reminder email again this morning.

I’m in a similar situation and haven’t been able to get verified through SheerID, despite reaching out to their support team three times over the past month (Sept 12, 16 and 20). Each time, my ticket was closed with the same generic message, even after submitting clear ID scans and switching my account email to my umich.edu address.

I’d be happy to provide any documents directly if that helps. I’d really appreciate any support from the team, as a lot of my academic work will be affected by this. Thanks so much.

I’m experiencing a similar issue and have been unable to get verified through SheerID, despite reaching out multiple times over the past two weeks — including six tickets with their support team, as well as contacts with my school IT team, the Figma Education team, and Figma Support. Each time, my request was closed with the same generic response from SheerID: “We can’t verify your government-issued ID based on the information you provided.”

On the Figma side, I was told: “Unfortunately, Figma cannot manually verify documents or reset verification limits, as this process is exclusively managed by SheerID. We recommend reaching out to the SheerID support team to request a reset of your verification attempts. They are best equipped to assist with these specific issues.”

This has left me stuck in a loop with no clear resolution. I would be very grateful for any support in resolving this issue, as the process so far has been extremely frustrating and I feel unsupported.

Just wanted to share an update in case it helps anyone. I finally got verified after submitting my unofficial transcript instead of my university ID or passport. That was the only document I hadn’t tried before, and it worked.

I was in touch with the Figma Education team to get my verification limit reset, which they were able to help with.

Also, I had originally been using a personal email on my account (even though I was on the Education Plan). I changed my primary email to my university address using this process:
https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039820114-Manage-email-address-or-password

Hope this is helpful to anyone still facing the issue.

Thanks for sharing that, @Roshni — I’m glad to hear that suggestion helped, and thank you for sharing back here. I’m also following up on open conversations and wanted to share a couple of updates for anyone else running into similar issues:

Hope this helps get you where you need to be — and thanks again for your patience as this process continues.
