Figma stopped remembering my export location

Recently Figma has stopped remembering the last location I exported to. So I need to renavigate every time I export something. Please restore. Thanks!

Thanks for your post, @Brian_Olson. Having to navigate back to the same folder for every export sounds frustrating.

Are you exporting from Figma in a browser or from the desktop app? If it’s the desktop app, could you also share your operating system and where the save window opens each time (assuming that it defaults to the same location)? If you’re using a browser, which browser is it? With a bit more info I can check with the team to see what might be happening. Thanks!

You are correct, it opens to the same location each time: Downloads

Ok, thanks for the additional info. Before I take this to the team, can you confirm that you’re running the newest version of the desktop app, and then verify the issue is still present there? To update the app:

Click the down arrow icon menu at the top right of the app window.
Select Check for Updates and follow any update prompt.

I’m having the same issue. I’m on a Mac m2 pro max and it’s through the desktop app. It does it only when i select multiple frames but if i only select one frame it remembers the last export location. @adamsmasher

Hi, @jeanpfm - thanks for your reply and additional info. Since @Brian_Olson reported this and related issue with inconsistent export settings with multiple layers, I asked our team to take a look and see what might be happening. I’m not sure if the cause is the same, but they seem similar enough to look into together. I’ll let you both know what I find out once I have something I can share.

Same issue for me as well - tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Updating doesn’t help as I am on the latest version. Happens when I try to export multiple layers - it goes to my Downloads folder only - not my last export location. I’ve check figma has full disk access in mac settings as well.

Update:
as mentioned previously it goes to my downloads folder, so I thought it must be a directory/disk access permission error. But no - even inside a folder in the same downloads folder - it doesn’t remember the location.

This error only occurs on exporting multiple assets together, for single asset it remembers the last location.

I’m experiencing the same issue with Figma. It used to remember the last folder/location I exported files to, but recently it has stopped doing so.

Now I have to navigate to the desired folder manually every time I export, which makes the workflow unnecessarily time-consuming.

Could this behavior be restored so Figma remembers the last export location? Thanks!

Same issue here. Seems to have happened on the newest update. Please can this be fixed, it is frustrating and time-consuming.
