I’m working in Figma slides, I have tried web and desktop but the problem persists.
I am in Design Mode and have the move tool selected and Fixed Size text box, however it scales proportionally, including the text inside. I just want to resize the box. It’s like I’m stuck in the scale tool somehow. I have restarted and still like this. The same for exisitng and new text boxes.

Hi @Ben53 , Thanks for getting in touch!
I've taken a look and I'm seeing the same thing you described:
When you hover over a corner of a text box, the cursor turns into the scale icon.
Clicking and dragging that icon changes both the box size and the font size.
Is that what you're seeing too?
I'm also noticing:
When you hover over the sides of the box, the cursor turns into the scale icon, and you can change the box size.
When you hover over the top or bottom of the box, the cursor doesn't change.
I recognize that this behavior does not precisely match the information presented in the “Text dimensions” section of Adjust text dimensions and resizing Figma Design Help Center article.
Just a heads up, since Figma Slides is in beta, some design mode features might not work exactly like they do in Figma Design. We're working on making them better during the beta. I'll share your feedback with the product team. We can't promise any changes right away, but we really appreciate you letting us know about this.
We understand that this is not the ideal solution, but in the meantime, please manually adjust the bounding box dimensions using the “Layout” section, which can be found within the “Design” tab in the right-side panel.

Thanks for the response! Yes that’s exactly what I’m seeing. I also have the impression that it was working as it does in a design file before and only recently changed. I have been adjusting manually and that works as a workaround for now.
