Figma Slides: Interacting with prototype in Notes view does not reflect in the Audience's view

Recently, it seems that now interacting with prototypes in the Notes view of presentation mode in Figma Slides does not reflect what the audience is seeing in their view of the presentation. I have to move my cursor away from my notes to the audiences view of the slides and interact with the prototype there. This seems like a bug to me. It was not performing this way last week.

Additionally, another update that seems to have happened at the same time is that prototypes in Slides load automatically and do not need to be clicked on to load, this is OK, but in my use case, i wanted 2 prototypes on the screen at once (Before & After versions), and having them load at the same time causes confusion. Having an option to load immediately or start on click would be helpful.

Hi @Nikhil and everyone following along — thanks for your patience while I checked in with the engineering team. I have an update to share.

The multiplayer cursor between presenter view and audience view in Figma Slides was intentionally removed. This change was made to address a separate issue where presenters were seeing two cursors during a session. To simplify the experience and avoid additional confusion, the decision was to disable the multiplayer cursor in this context. Going forward, the expected behavior is to use your regular cursor when presenting.

I know this is a shift in workflow, and I’ve made sure the product team has the feedback you’ve shared here — especially around how this impacts presentations and live demos.

Hope this helps clarify what you’re seeing today. If anything still feels unclear or if questions come up, don’t hesitate to let us know.

I’m experiencing the same issue from yesterday. Have you figured it out?

Hey everyone — thanks so much for flagging this. 🙏🏻 I wanted to check in to see if you’re still encountering this issue and help narrow things down a bit.

To clarify a few details:

  • Does this happen only when using the Present + Notes option in Figma Slides?
  • Are you seeing it in the browser, the Figma Desktop App, or both?
  • If you’re using the app, are you running the latest version (125.8.9)?

If all of those check out and you’re still running into trouble, it’ll be helpful to share a bit more context on how this is affecting your presentation workflow, along with the file where it’s occurring. You can connect directly with our Product Support team through this secure form — when you do, please include:

  1. the link to this Forum thread for context
  2. a full-size screen recording of the issue (if possible)
  3. a link to the affected file
  4. and ensure support-share@figma.com has “Can edit” access.

Thanks again for taking the time to share this — keep us posted on how it’s going!

I’m experiencing the same issue. When presenting with a prototype, I interact with the embedded prototype in Presenter View — it works on that screen but doesn’t reflect on the audience view.

Additionally, when I share my screen, the cursor moves in the Presenter View but isn’t visible on the audience (overview) screen.

Details:
• Figma version: Latest (125.8.9)
• Platform: Figma Desktop App and Browser (issue occurs on both)
• Behavior: Happens only when using the Present + Notes option in Figma Slides

Hi @kimnguyen — thanks so much for sharing those details and taking the time to describe what you’re seeing.

I was able to reproduce the issue on my end, and our engineering team is aware and investigating a fix. While I don’t have a specific timeline to share just yet, we’ll be keeping an eye on progress and will follow up once there’s an update.

Appreciate everyone for flagging this and helping us get a closer look. 🙏🏻

Hey! I’m facing the same issue. I also remember being able to point at things with my cursor in the Presenter view, and seeing it on the Audience view, but thats no longer the case. This directly affects how we present to executives. Would really appreciate a solve, thank you!!

Hi @Nikhil — thanks for flagging this and for explaining how the cursor in the Presenter view impacts your presentations. I’ve been checking this as well, and our engineering team is continuing to investigate the behavior you’re seeing.
I really appreciate you taking the time to share these details, and your patience as the team works toward a resolution.

Thanks for getting back Tom! If there’s room for it, I’d definitely love to have it be a feature that can be toggled on and off. I honestly loved how I could look at one screen, read notes and point to things while presenting.

Would also love to hear back on the original issue of the presenter and audience views not aligning.

Thanks again!

Right on — I hear you on this, @Nikhil. Really appreciate you taking the time to outline your ideal setup and why that flexibility matters for how you present. We are keeping this feedback loop open.

On the issue of the presenter and audience prototype views not staying in sync: To help me get a clearer picture of what you’re experiencing, could any of you share a short screen recording or any additional details about the mismatch you’re seeing? Even a rough sense of how far apart the two views are would be helpful.

Thanks again for staying engaged and helping us understand the impact.
