Figma prototype panel shifts to the left and prototype stops working (Chrome & Desktop App)

Hi team,

We’re running into a really frustrating issue while viewing prototypes in Figma and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Sometimes while previewing a prototype, the entire Figma prototype panel suddenly shifts completely to the left side of the screen. Once this happens, the view gets stuck — we can’t move or pan the prototype, and all prototype interactions stop working entirely. It basically becomes unusable at that point.

What’s strange is that this doesn’t happen consistently at a specific step; it just happens randomly while viewing the prototype. Refreshing doesn’t fix it, and reopening the prototype is the only workaround for now.

This issue is happening for multiple people on our team, so it doesn’t seem to be a single machine or account problem. We’ve also noticed that the same prototype works perfectly in Microsoft Edge, but the issue keeps occurring in Chrome and the Figma Desktop App.

Attaching a screenshot showing how the panel looks after it shifts to the left.

Has anyone else seen this behavior recently, or is this a known issue with Chrome / the desktop app? Any suggestions or workarounds would really help.

Thanks!

I’m facing the same issue today. I updated Figma yesterday, and for the past hour, the problem has been occurring.

Same thing is happening to me since I started prototyping this morning. Initially I thought I accidentally changed some settings but it happened with older prototypes as well, so I realized it wasn’t me.

I’m facing this issue in the Figma app and Chrome today, but it works fine in Safari and in my other Figma Premium account. But all my office files are in the free version account.

Same issue currently I’m facing in all Figma Desktop App, Chrome, Edge, and even in Safari.,
anyone got it resolved..?

We are seeing the same issues across all platforms. Started yesterday or Tuesday night. This is a significant issue as client prototypes start of fine then quickly turn non-functional as soon as sidebar disappears on it’s own. Figma please look into the ASAP.

Hi everybody,
since this morning I have an issue with a prototype behaviour that drives me crazy.

I have designed two screens that can be accessed via tabs. Everything works as expected when switching from tab 1 to tab 2, but as soon as I switch back to tab 1, the screen jumps to the left, while the click area of the tab remains in its original position. However, the visible tabs are on the left in the view. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have any idea what is going on and can possibly help?
