Figma MCP use_figma tool is missing in Codex/ChatGPT

use_figma is missing in Codex Desktop
The official Figma plugin in Codex Desktop exposes read-only tools such as get_design_context, get_metadata, and get_screenshot, but does not expose the write-capable use_figma tool.
Environment:
- macOS;
- Figma Desktop is running;
- Full Figma seat;
- edit access to the target file;
- manual editing works;
- official Figma plugin installed in Codex Desktop.
Troubleshooting already completed:
- Figma plugin reauthenticated;
- plugin uninstalled and reinstalled;
- macOS application-data permission granted;
- Figma Desktop and Codex fully restarted;
- tested in multiple fresh Codex tasks.
The read tools continue to work, while use_figma remains absent from the available tool list. This prevents all Write to Canvas operations from Codex.
This appears to be a server-side capability exposure or Codex–Figma integration issue.

I’m seeing the same issue in ChatGPT today. use_figma was working yesterday and earlier today, then disappeared from the available Figma tools. Read tools such as metadata/design context still work against the same file.  

I’ve already reconnected and re-authenticated Figma, fully reloaded ChatGPT, started fresh projects and chats, and restarted the PC. Figma still shows ChatGPT as an MCP client, but the write-capable use_figma tool remains missing.  

This appears to be the same server-side capability exposure issue described above.

Same issue here. My ChatGPT Work chat cannot edit my figma anymore. Just a few hours ago it worked properly. Now it can only read the figma project. Help Pleasee
